April 5 The Festival on Ponce is an Atlanta arts and crafts festival set in the historic park, Olmsted Linear Park.Visitors will enjoy the gorgeous landscape designed by one <strong>of</strong> America's most celebrated landscape architects, FredrickOlmsted Sr. along with over 125 displays <strong>of</strong> fine arts and crafts, folk and "outsider art". In addition to the fine arts, therewill be an area for local food and beverage. We will leave at 9:30am, and the cost is $6 + meal. We should hopefullyreturn by 3:30pm. Cash please.Tues. April 8 Building a Foundation for Better Health, Bev Stegman will join us again for this presentation. Thismonth she will talk about General Exercise - This lecture educates on the importance <strong>of</strong> strength, and cardiovascularactivity and many more benefits from specific routine exercises. Begins at 10:30amWed. April 9 *National and Confederate Guided Tour <strong>of</strong> Cemeteries in Marietta, leaving at 9:30am. The cost will be$22 per person + lunch out at Shillings on Marietta Square. Again we will have the honor <strong>of</strong> having a tour guide, BradQuinlin for the day. We will use a special trolley brought into Marietta for the 150th Civil War Celebration in the city.We will tour the National cemetery in the morning have lunch, then a shorter visit to the Confederate cemetery andreturning home around 4PM. This trip will be with the Men <strong>of</strong> Windward Group so this will fill up fast. Make checkspayable to AGAC.Wed. April 9 Concession Stand Volunteer Mandatory Meeting! If you are willing to volunteer at the concessionstand at Wills Park a few days this summer, please plan to attend. The AGAC needs you! 2pmThurs. April 10 Mystery Dinner out, leaving at 5pm. This cost is $8 per person + dinner. Come join us for thisnight out and enjoy a nice meal and each other’s company! Hopefully we should return around 8:30-9pm. Make checkspayable to AGAC.Fri. April 11 Dogwood Arts Festival in Piedmont Park. We will leave at 9:30am, and the cost is $6 + your lunch. AnAtlanta staple for more than 75 years, there is something for everyone at the Atlanta Dogwood Festival. Virtually everykind <strong>of</strong> art imaginable is represented at the festival, with a nationally renowned-juried Fine Artist Market that includessculpture, paintings, pottery, jewelry, photography and much more. Sat. April 12 <strong>Alpharetta</strong> Recreation and Parks Dept. Children’s Egg Hunt. Bring your grandchildren and join our staffwho will be working this event. The times are 10am-12noon but the actual egg hunt begins at 11am.This event is for ages 3-6 years <strong>of</strong> age. The location is North Park S<strong>of</strong>tball fields 1-4. No need to pre-register.Mon. April 14 *Harrah’s To Gamble in Cherokee, NC. We will leave at 7am and returning around 7pm. Amotor coach comes to pick us up and the cost is $40 per person with a $40 gambling voucher in return. Please bring apicture ID and make your check payable to It’s My Turn Travels.Wed. April 14 Golf Outing, leaving at 8:30am. The course is to be determined and so is the price. Pleaseregister and when we find out, we will notify you. The cost to ride the bus is $6 per person + green fees and lunch.Wed. April 16 *Callaway Gardens Azalea Festival, leaving at 8:30am. Each spring Callaway Gardenslandscape explodes with one <strong>of</strong> the world’s largest displays <strong>of</strong> azaleas – more than 20,000, plus dogwoods, daffodils,tulips and more. The cost will be $26 per person + meal out at the Country Store. We should return around 5pm. Makechecks payable to AGAC.Thurs. April 17 Movie Day! This month we will feature Captain Phillips based on a true story with Tom Hanks.The movie begins at 1:30pm and popcorn & drink will be provided.Tues. April 22 Lunch at Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle. We will leave at 9:30am and plan on returning by5pm. We will eat first then if weather permits we could walk around the beautiful Blue Willow Inn grounds, shop, andvisit the pretty little town <strong>of</strong> Social Circle for your enjoyment. Voted “the best small restaurant in the South”, located inthe heart <strong>of</strong> the historic district <strong>of</strong> Social Circle. The cost is $25 and that is all inclusive. Make checks payable to AGAC.Tues. April 22“Happy Feet”! This class will discuss the importance <strong>of</strong> foot care. You will be able to orderdiabetic shoes. Class begins at 11am.Wed. April 16 Jeopardy and Pizza. Join us for a fun group game <strong>of</strong> Jeopardy and a slice <strong>of</strong> pizza sponsoredby Cigna Health Care. Prizes will be given. This will begin at 12:30pm.Thurs. April 24 Hiking Club TBD leaving at 8:30am. Each month avid hikers will take a day trip to a destinationdetermined by Jim Wohlford, our facilitator. Bring a sack lunch and the cost is $5.Thurs. April 24 AGAC Member trip to tour the Waffle House Museum. We will leave at 9am and the price will be freefor AGAC members, $6 for non-members. We will eat “brunch” at Waffle House and should be back by 3pm. Cash onlyplease.Sun. April 27 *Legacy Theater will be featuring CHICAGO. This theater is located in Tyrone and we plan on leaving at1pm not returning until around 6:30pm. The cost is $27 and there will be no meal out. You won’t want to miss the awardwinning Broadway and Oscar winning motion picture.
