continued2. BROADER GENERAL DEGREE CHOICESA number of colleges offer flexible degrees that combine military credit and generaleducation to form flexible, efficient-for-soldiers degrees. If it is not important that thesoldier’s degree closely resemble a civilian one in the occupational specialty (i.e., becomprised of major-area courses normally associated with the field), such a program mightbe appropriate. Many General Studies network curriculums found in the SOC DegreeNetwork System-2 fit this model. WILL YOU CONTINUE FOR A BACHELOR'S DEGREE?Some MOSs have bachelor's degree plans you can pursue directly without an interimassociate degree. With this approach you have no transfer concerns, but if you stop short ofcompletion you have no interim degree. An associate degree's title (e.g., AA, AS, AAS, etc.)alone will not ensure successful transfer to a bachelor's degree program. It depends more onthe correct matching of the 2- and 4-year programs' course content.Read the Degree Objective statement on the degree plan carefully. If questions remain, raisethem with the bachelor's degree program to which you intend to transfer. It is important toselect the right courses based on considerations like: Are they intended to transfer? Do theyhave a place in your bachelor's degree curriculum?
