Program begins June 13 with practices.Matches (2 hrs) are on Mondays and Wednesdays startingJune 22. Fridays are practice days (1.5 hrs) practices will be heldat Cooper High School. All practices and matches at Cooper HighSchool will be at 1:00 pm. Parents and athletes are responsiblefor their own transportation to practices and away matches. Noprogram July 1 or July 4. The purpose of the course is toteach you the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respondto aquatic emergencies in a pool environment. You will learn howto recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergenciesand to prevent injuries and drowning. Upon completion of thecourse, participants will receive certifications in Lifeguard Training,CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid. Participants mustattend all portions of the course to be eligible for certification.Prerequisite: Students must be 15 years of age on or before thelast day of class; swim 500 yards continuously using the breaststrokeand front crawl; swim 20 yards and retrieve a 10-pounddiving brick from 10 feet of water, swim 20 yards with both handson the brick, and be able to get out of the water without using aladder. Bring a lunch, swimming suit, pencil and paper to everyclass. Minimum 4.
