Top price of £1400 was achieved for a smart 21 month old Limousin x steer forRobert & Janet Legg of Dunchideock, who had others to £1380 & £1230. John Attree of Harbertonford saw a pen of 3super 2 year old British Blue steers fetch £1300 apiece, whilst a grand pen of 22 month old South Devon steers forDonald Burrough of Sidmouth reached £1285 with Charolais’ from the same home at £1210. Alan & Gerry Luscombe ofNewton Abbot saw their best 2 year old Aberdeen Angus x steers at £1270 with younger sorts at £1240 and awonderful run of purebred Aberdeen Angus cattle for Rex & Robin Milton of South Molton saw forward steers to £1255with others at £1205 and younger sorts to £1125. J Hamlin of Newton Abbot reached £1235 for a grand 22 month oldSouth Devon steer, whilst a super entry from Brian Warne & Family of Manaton saw £1090 for 20 month South Devonsteers, a record price for the family! A super run of Blonde d’Aquitaine cattle from RL Down & Son of Barnstaple toppedat £1230 for a pen of 19 month old steers with others at £1135. Edward & George Pollard of Newton Abbot showed agrand run of 18 month old Charolais steers topping at £1180 with other bunches at £1150 & £1140. Heifers were just asdear, topped by Michael Vooght of Okehampton at £1185 for his 22 month old Charolais heifers, followed tightly by Alan& Gerry Luscombe’s Aberdeen Angus x at £1175 & £1160, Rex & Robin Milton’s pure Aberdeen Angus’ at £1135 and RLDown & Sons 21 month old Blonde at £1060.A superb show of younger cattle met with a fierce trade; EW Hendy Partnership of Plymouth saw the best of theirexceptional 14 month old Aberdeen Angus x steers hit £1300, whilst Mike Hutchings of Chudleigh fetched £1190 for hisbest pen of 16 month old Limousin x steers with others at £1095 & £1035. Jeremy Brown of Poltimore offered awonderful run of Simmental yearlings, topping at £1020 with other bunches at £945, £910 & £905. A lovely run of 10month old Simmental steers for John Bowles of Kingsbridge saw the best pen to £990 apiece with others at £970 & £930and heifers to £965.Quiney & Spears of Moretonhampstead showed a cracking run of purebred and pedigree 10-12 month old Limousin bulls,topping at £1270 with others at £1190 (x2), £1180 & £1140. Native bulls sold to a strong trade withtwo cracking Devon Bulls to £300 & £280 from Messrs GJ &CA Mock of Umberleigh. Hereford bulls sold to £290 for JohnEkers of Totnes and Aberdeen Angus bulls from the samevendor to £270. Heifers sold to £295 for British Blues fromMartin & Caroline Greenslade. John Vooght of Dunsford saw his South Devon steer reach £810 and an 8 month old purebred Limousin bullfrom D Stevens & Son of Crediton to £800. Another good run of South Devon x steers from Trevor Adcock ofMoretonhampstead topped at £755 as FE Tucker of Pennymoor scooped the first prize for steers in the AnniversaryShow & Sale and saw his neat 7 month Limousin’s make £660. The heifer section saw F Hill & Son win the show and withit made £690 of their pair of quality 7 month old Simmental’s. Andrew Pedrick of Buckfastleigh gained second place andachieved £560 for his Limousin heifers.

The 1st Calving Heifers (1st quality) 2000 1890sale commenced with a useful entry of freshly calved Holsteins which 1st Calving Heifers (2nd quality) 1650 1405sold to a cracking trade with several buyers competing hard. Top of 1st Quality Cows 2000 1855the day was £2000 for Gordon Davis of Tiverton with a pedigree 2nd Quality Cows 1600 1377Heddonvalley bred heifer by Picston Shottle and a second calved RedCross Bred Dry Cows 1450 1128& White Dutch Cow also hit £2000 which was a tremendous trade.In Calf Holstein Heifers 1550 1460The same vendor sold other second calvers to £1950 & £1750.Other pedigree heifers sold to £1950 for “Hemburyfort Myrtle 93” a Holstein Bulling Heifers 1010 961Magor Bolivia Alllen daughter from Derek Pyle of Aylesbeare who Cross Bred Yearlings 750 661went home delighted with his trade! Other non-pedigree heifers sold Cross Bred Heifer Calves 370 308to £1720 for Nick Congdon of Saltash. A consignment of mainly Pedigree Freshly Calved Jerseys 2100 1433cross bred Dry Cows from Andrew & Debbie Cook of UmberleighPedigree Summer Calving Jerseys 1500 1186sold to a super trade topping at £1450 for a 2007 born Ayrshire duePedigree Jersey Youngstock 1100 568in June. Others sold to £1380 for a 2008 born Swedish Red due inJune. Several others sold in excess of £1300 and the consignment of 26 averaged well at £1128.The sale included the English Gold Top Sale of 50 Pedigree Jerseys which set the ring alight when they camethrough and trade was literally on fire! Top of the day was £2100 for a cracking second calver “Morebridge Jevons BondGP82” by Forest Glen Meccas Jevon from Messrs MS Ashton of Torrington who also sold a third calver “MorebridgeIatolas Bella VG86” by SC Gold Dust Paramount Iatola at £2000, both these grand cows sold to Sally & Lucy Parfitt ofSomerset. The same vendors sold a cracking crossbred second calver by Whitenhill Futuritys Beechnut out of anAyrshire cross cow and she saw spirited bidding and sold at £1800 to David Blanch of Bristol to join his PedigreeHolstein herd. The same buyer also purchased a lovely third calver “Morebridge Mcgwires Wilma VG85” by GrammerHallmark Mcgwire at £1650 and the best of the fresh heifers at £1550 for Morebridge Russells Marsh Tit” by Will DoMor Russell. Phillip and Jane must be congratulated on a wonderful consignment of 13 cows which averaged aphenomenal £1532! Oliver Neagle travelled down from Hampshire with a milky consignment and sold a second calver“Hiltonbury Ringsmaster Lilac ET” a daughter of Family Hill Ringmaster out of an EX93 cow, she sold to well at £1550 toMartin Williams of Helston for his newly established herd. The same vendor also sold a Ringmaster heifer out of an EX90cow at £1450. The summer calvers met a much better than expected trade and met strong demand with the best heiferselling to £1500 for “Richtop DJMay Donny” by DJ May due her second in June to Starbuck from The Taylor family ofIlfracombe. The same vendors sold a July calving third calver by DJ May at £1250 and a June calving 2nd calver by DJ Lirskat £1220. The Taylor’s also sold summer calving In Calf heifers well to £1400 for a daughter of Iatola and others to £1220for a SR <strong>View</strong> Flight daughter which was purchased by Brian and William Patten of Nantwhich, Cheshire. Served heifersmet a very strong trade with a super show heifer from Arthur Walters of Launceston by Iatola which was due inSeptember and she sold exceptionally well at £1150. We were delighted to be able to offer six very well bred youngstockfrom Richard & Heather Gibson of Tiverton for their Charity “Aid For Samburu”. Following Richard’s experiencewith his visit to Samburu to take part in a documentary on “The toughest place to be a farmer”, Richard & Heather setup a charity to raise money to buy a Bore Hole and send it across. Their consignment of heifers sold exceptionally wellto £1100 which was achieved three times and all were Twinkle family members originating from Graham Wallace’sGrahmar herd and first to do it was “Heatherburn Belles Twinkle” by Potterswalls Belles Pride and she sold to JamesWarren to join his Cardinney herd in Cornwall. Next was a Pine Haven Senior daughter with 4 gens of VG or EX behindher and she sold to Simon Bray of Barnstaple for his Southley herd. The third was a Governor daughter who was onlyjust 14 months old and she sold to Sally & Lucy Parfitt. The same vendors sold January born calves by Governor to £480and their consignment grossed £5060 all for CHARITY! The Taylor’s sold 4 heifer calves from their Richtop herd byAmity & Zuma very well at £370 apiece to Mark Reed of Umberleigh to join his Holstein Herd. 3 non-pedigree YearlingHeifers by Amity sold at £400 apiece from Mark Evans ofHoniton. A fantastic day for the Jersey Breed!!The day finished with the commercial youngstock and acracking run of non-pedigree Holstein Friesian bulling heifersfrom Nick Congdon of Saltash which sold very well to £1010x4, £1000 x 4 and averaged well at £961. Crossbred yearlingheifers also sold very well for Andrew & Debbie Cook ofUmberleigh with their best selling to £750 for BritishFriesian crosses and some smart Ayrshire x heifers to £710,their 29 yearling heifers averaged £661. The same vendorsalso sold 30 baby heifer calves which sold to an exceptionaltrade topping at £370 for some Ayrshire crosses, the calvesaveraged an exceptional £308.
