Her work experienceincludes seven years as the <strong>Art</strong> Director for the trade bookpublisher, Chicago Review Press, <strong>and</strong> most recently four yearsas the Creative Director <strong>of</strong> Sanrio, Inc. (Hello Kitty). She hasillustrated <strong>and</strong> designed several series <strong>of</strong> children’s activity books<strong>and</strong> gift books, <strong>and</strong> has written two books for children, Wishingon A Star <strong>and</strong> a bird watching book. Her company, CoatimundiStudios, created the licensing style guides for Thomas the TankEngine <strong>and</strong> has illustrated several Thomas books for R<strong>and</strong>omHouse Children’s Books. She works traditionally in gouache,scratchboard <strong>and</strong> printmaking techniques <strong>and</strong> digitally in InDesign,Illustrator, Photoshop <strong>and</strong> Flash. On day one,students will explore the range <strong>of</strong> this simplestructure by learning several folded <strong>and</strong> sewnpamphlet variations with s<strong>of</strong>t covers. Variousfolds, mixed paper sizes <strong>and</strong> alternate sewingadd interest <strong>and</strong> detail, <strong>and</strong> methods <strong>of</strong>adding content will be discussed. On daytwo, students will learn a technique to bind apamphlet-stitched book into a hard case. Salov spent several years workingin academia, primarily as a pr<strong>of</strong>essor at the University <strong>of</strong>Arkansas in Fayetteville. Her artwork has been includedin numerous solo <strong>and</strong> group exhibitions across the country.Most recently she was a resident artist for the 2012 summerat Archie Bray in Helena, Montana. Am<strong>and</strong>a was a residentat OCAC in the fall <strong>of</strong> 2011 <strong>and</strong> spent the 2007 summerworking in the sculpture department at Anderson Ranch.In 2010, Am<strong>and</strong>a was named an Emerging <strong>Art</strong>ist byNCECA. She received a BFA in Ceramics from theUniversity <strong>of</strong> Wisconsin-Whitewater <strong>and</strong> an MFA inCeramics from the University <strong>of</strong> Missouri.Darrin Ekern was the Ceramics Director at the Mendocino<strong>Art</strong> Center in Northern California before taking on theStudio Manager role at OCAC. He exhibits his worknationally. Recent exhibitions include Feats <strong>of</strong> Clay,Lincoln <strong>Art</strong>s Center <strong>and</strong> Mendovenacular at the 2011NCECA conference. STUDIO SCHOOL POLICIESStudents may submit a completed registrationform by mail, fax, in person, or online at www.ocac.edu/register. Phone registration is also availablefor all classes <strong>and</strong> workshops except <strong>Art</strong> Adventures.All tuition <strong>and</strong> studio fees are due at thetime <strong>of</strong> registration. Please register one studentper registration form. Additional forms are availableonline. Registrations are non-transferable.Age Requirements for 700-800 Classes<strong>and</strong> WorkshopsClasses <strong>and</strong> workshops are open to adults age18 <strong>and</strong> over. Students 17 <strong>and</strong> younger wishingto enroll should contact the Community ProgramRegistrar to obtain consent <strong>of</strong> the instructor <strong>and</strong>to complete a release <strong>of</strong> liability statement.Class/Workshop CancellationsIf a class should fail to meet minimum enrollment7-14 days before the first scheduled meeting, it willbe cancelled. If a class or workshop is cancelled, afull refund <strong>of</strong> tuition <strong>and</strong> studio fees will be made.Tuition DiscountsWe are pleased to <strong>of</strong>fer several discounts forStudio School tuition. Instructors will assign outside-<strong>of</strong>classwork to students in addition to class workif the total instructional hours in a Studio Schoolclass or workshop does not equal 45 hours. Academicprogress is linked to course attendance.Students are responsible for the entire content <strong>of</strong>their courses <strong>and</strong> can expect that attendance willinfluence the evaluation <strong>of</strong> their performance.Transfer Credit (to other colleges)The transfer <strong>of</strong> OCAC credit is always at thediscretion <strong>of</strong> the receiving school. This generallydepends on the transferability <strong>of</strong> curricula <strong>and</strong> mayalso depend on comparability <strong>of</strong> accreditation.Student RecordsOCAC adheres to the provisions <strong>of</strong> the FamilyEducational Rights <strong>and</strong> Privacy Act <strong>of</strong> 1974(FERPA). Students have the right to inspect <strong>and</strong>to challenge the accuracy <strong>of</strong> the contents <strong>of</strong> theireducational records that are maintained by the<strong>College</strong>. The <strong>College</strong> will not release students’academic records to any person, agency or organizationother than <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficials <strong>and</strong> certainauthorized federal <strong>and</strong> state authorities withoutthe written consent <strong>of</strong> the student.OCAC designates the following items as DirectoryInformation: student name, address, telephonenumber, email address, status, concentration,degrees, honors <strong>and</strong> awards, dates <strong>of</strong> attendance<strong>and</strong> photographs.
