Intensely gold in colour, there is a seabreeziness about the bouquet, along with somemarked spice and floral characters. The palate isreflective of the bouquet, with the added charm ofsome light citrus and a finish that hints at honey.DrambuieLiqueur700mL $54.00 94410Bonnie Prince Charlie (Prince Charles EdwardStuart to you, laddie) was given refuge by aCaptain John McKinnon, and in thanks, hegave him the recipe to his own secret elixirwhich had been made for him by the RoyalApothecary. Some suggest that saffron andcloves are part of the mix, the first for colour,the second for flavour, but who would know?Well, the McKinnon family, because they,and only they, still have the recipe. OriginallyScotch whisky infused with honey and saidspices, Drambuie has a Highland heart and asweetie-pie coating.Balvenie DoubleWood12-Year-Old Matured Malt Scotch Whisky700mL $110.00 93397Aged first in traditional oak casks, with theirprevious life holding bourbon transferringa softness to the final whisky, the elixir isthen matured further in Spanish Oak Casks,which impart a delightful range of aromas andflavours, as well as adding some depth. This isa smoothly mellow Balvenie, a lush malt withlayers of honey, vanilla and cinnamon spices,while a nutty Oloroso sweetness adds charmand complexity.
