The Armagh Road construction works are the only remaining works
that require significant traffic management. The extent of traffic
management will be kept to a minimum, and in any case should not
be required after early February 2006.
We have also programmed to finish
all side road construction
works, including the accommodation
works for adjacent landowners
by March 2006. This includes
works to the Ballymascanlan
area. These works will
not have any significant interference
with traffic.
On the main motorway we are currently
carrying out other improvement
works which include a major
upgrade to the tolling system at the
plaza, traffic counter installation and
anti-skid surfacing. The toll system
upgrade will further improve the
driver experience passing through
the plaza. Some minor traffic alterations
will be utilised and these will
be notified to the roadusers by our
variable message sign boards and
extra advance signage. We are also
applying anti-skid surfacing to the
interchange slip roads to improve
safety on the off ramp approaches to
the secondary roads. These works will be
carried out off-peak on a phased basis over the coming weeks, again advance
warning signage will be in place to advise motorists. These works are in addition
to our ongoing routine maintenance programme which includes a comprehensive
winter maintenance service.
