YAPARE YOU PARTICIPATING IN THE YAPEXCHANGE PROGRAMME THIS YEAR?Renato to start a new Club <strong>41</strong> In Barcelona ???In the far off 1983 there was founded the Round Table No.1 of Spa<strong>in</strong>, <strong>in</strong> Barcelona.The club was operative for a few years and then stopped it’s activities but their members cont<strong>in</strong>ued to have occasionallymeet<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> their old headquarters <strong>in</strong> a typicol restaurant <strong>in</strong> the Barrio Gotico of Barcelona.Over the years, the writer has taken the opportunity to meet the Spanish old tablers <strong>in</strong> the old restaurant.Dur<strong>in</strong>g the year of 2008 ,after many years, the writer, bas<strong>in</strong>g of the elements of the memory and after various hours ofsearchs ( on foot ) was able to f<strong>in</strong>d the same restaurant, the restaurant Pitarra at the number 56 of d’av<strong>in</strong>jo street ( not faraway from the Columbus Avenue ) <strong>in</strong> the town center of Barcelona.(www.restaurantpitarra.cat)In this restaurant you eat very well and you may see the banner of the Round Table number one of spa<strong>in</strong>. Issue Nr.7 April 2009:Layout 1 26.02.2009 09:49 Seite 5BELGIUM NATIONAL AGMOn Thursday, 09 October 2008 I went on myway to Belgium to spend the night <strong>in</strong> Sursee<strong>in</strong> Switzerland, where next year the Int’l.H.Y.M.will be held. The next day I drove therema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g 700 km to Tienen <strong>in</strong> Belgium,where the Belgium AGM took place. Tienen isa town which lies more or less 40 km eastfrom Bruxelles and is a Flanders town with anice central market place, here are locatedthe City Hall, the Cathedral and also thesugar museum, because once Tienen was thecenter of the Belgien sugar <strong>in</strong>dusrtry.The first meet<strong>in</strong>g with all the local and foreignguests and also the registration tookplace <strong>in</strong> the sugar museum. After this therewas the official welcome of the Lady Vice-Mayor of Tienen <strong>in</strong> the City Hall.Once f<strong>in</strong>ished the official part of the even<strong>in</strong>gall the guests were divided <strong>in</strong> different groupsand welcomed <strong>in</strong> private houses from local<strong>41</strong>ers of Club <strong>41</strong> Tienen to start to the socalled home party. Good food was servedand also good and many dr<strong>in</strong>ks, so that thefun arrived automatically. I had the pleasureto be together <strong>in</strong> the group with the host<strong>in</strong>gNational President of Club <strong>41</strong> Belgium,Bruno Van L<strong>in</strong>dt, the National President ofClub <strong>41</strong> Netherlands, Jan Ooms with Marjanand the National Secretary from Club <strong>41</strong>Netherlands Peter Ornée with Anneke, theItalian I.R.O.’s Bruce Morgan and Duccio Arrighiwith Virg<strong>in</strong>ia, the National Vice Presidentfrom Club <strong>41</strong> Switzerland Werner Bless<strong>in</strong>gwith Soraya and local <strong>41</strong>ers from Club <strong>41</strong>Tienen and members from Club <strong>41</strong> Belgium.After much fun, remember<strong>in</strong>g nice past<strong>events</strong> and lot of talks also this Home Partyf<strong>in</strong>ished <strong>in</strong> the later night.The next morn<strong>in</strong>g a very good organizedshuttle bus service brought us to the St. RochasChapel <strong>in</strong> Hoegaarden, where we wherewelcomed with typical warm croissants andcoffee. Later started the Belgium nationalAGM where all the foreign guests where welcomedand I <strong>in</strong>vited to have my speech to <strong>in</strong>formthe different present Club <strong>41</strong> Presidentof Club <strong>41</strong> Belgium about what is go<strong>in</strong>g on <strong>in</strong>the <strong>41</strong> Int’l. F<strong>in</strong>ished this all the foreign guestsand the ladies were <strong>in</strong>vited to visit a nearbybotanical garden and together we could makea wonderful after-midsummer walk throughthe nature with all its beauties. At midday theguests could walk or where transported bybus to the “Kouterhof” <strong>in</strong> the brewery ofHoegaarden here we were offered a largebuffet of regional “musette” atmosphere….Dur<strong>in</strong>g the afternoon some took the chanceto visit the sugar museum, or went shopp<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong> Tienen or spent the time with other activities.At 7.30 pm started the Presidents Meet<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong> the fabulous illum<strong>in</strong>ated country house– the “Posthof”. All the delegates exchangedtheir banners and presents with the retir<strong>in</strong>gNational President of Club <strong>41</strong> Bruno VanL<strong>in</strong>dt and also with Philippe Deraedt, thepresident of Club <strong>41</strong> Tienen, who togetherwith the other members of this Club organizeda wonderful weekend for all guests who<strong>in</strong>vested time and money to visit this wonderfulpart of our world. At 8 pm the GalaD<strong>in</strong>ner began where we could assist to thechange of Jewels between the old and newNational Members of Club <strong>41</strong> guided by thenew National President Marc Dieu. Wonderfulfood and dr<strong>in</strong>ks where served and afterall the different official parts of the even<strong>in</strong>g avery good play<strong>in</strong>g orchestra with their wonderfuls<strong>in</strong>gers, brought also the most tired<strong>41</strong>ers on thedance Floor to spend this even<strong>in</strong>g with a lotof different danc<strong>in</strong>g music.Also this night was very long so that most ofthe guests arrived much later to the nextmorn<strong>in</strong>g Jazzy Scout<strong>in</strong>g Breakfast which wasorganized <strong>in</strong> the “Paterskerk ru<strong>in</strong>es”, a churchwho burned down <strong>in</strong> the past and which gaveus a nice welcome <strong>in</strong> the open, because theroof was miss<strong>in</strong>g, but we had a wonderful andwarm sh<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g sun, who made our stay<strong>in</strong>gagreeable.After some hours more and more guests hadto leave with the promise to meet very soonon an other event <strong>in</strong> the near future, maybedur<strong>in</strong>g the follow<strong>in</strong>g national AGM ofSwitzerland <strong>in</strong> Biel.Half-Yearly Meet<strong>in</strong>g, Sursee Central Switzerland 23 - 25th October 20095
