Age 55 and over at the VFW 8 Hour Intro Class: Senior Driving – 55 + for First Timers This course establishes first-time eligibility for a 10% insurance premium reduction to drivers 55 yrs. and older. This eight-hour class is offered over two evenings -you must be able to attend both evenings to receive your reduced insurance-rate certificate. This course is offered once per year in the Wabasha-Kellogg area. Topics for the two 4-hour sessions include: today’s driving environment, new laws, compensating for the physical changes associated with aging, and selecting a vehicle for safety. Small group discussions and experienced instructors contribute to enjoyable, meaningful sessions. Participants must bring their driver’s license to class. Two 4 hour sessions: Wed Oct 8 & Thurs. Oct 9, 2008 5:30 - 9:30PM at the Wabasha VFW Cost: $22 (Pre-Registration required.) Instructor: Driver Improvement Associates – David Ruzek Min: Class #: 20 people, maximum class#: 30 Age 58 and over at the VFW Drivers age 58+ may renew your insurance reduction certificate (every 3 years) with this 4-hour refresher. This class is for those who have previously completed a state-certified eight-hour class and eligible for the 10% discount. Topics include: Safe driving recommendations, with emphasis on the aging factors that typically affect older drivers (reduced vision, slower response times, etc.). Participants must bring their driver’s license to class. SESSION 1: Thurs. Nov 13, 2008 from 12:30 to 4:30PM at the Wabasha VFW SESSION 2: Thurs. Registration Information MAIL-IN Registration - starting immediately! Here’s how: 1. Registration is requested at least one week prior to class start, so that instructors have time to plan. (If there is insufficient enrollment in a class the week before it is scheduled, it may be cancelled.) 2. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, up to the maximum enrollment for each class. 3. Complete the registration form. Fees must accompany your registration form; you may write one check for all of the class fees. 4. Make all checks payable to: Wabasha-Kellogg Community Education, and mail to Wabasha-Kellogg Community Education 2113 Hiawatha Drive E., Wabasha, MN 55981 WALK-IN Registration – ENTER AT HIGH SCHOOL ENTRANCE We are located in the High School wing, first door on the right at the top of the stairs. (Handicap access is available at HS entrance.) Register IN PERSON at the W-K Community Education Office starting IMMEDIATELY. Office Hours are Monday –Friday 8AM to 3PM PHONE REGISTRATIONS - Call 565-3559 ext. 258 Payment is necessary to secure your enrollment and should be mailed in immediately to hold your spot. You are not registered until payment is received. NO CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATIONS You will be notified ONLY if a class is filled or cancelled. If you are not contacted, assume that the class will take place and that you are enrolled in the class. CANCELLATION OF CLASSES DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER: Community Education classes are automatically c ancelled on days when School District #811 building does not open due to storms, or if students are dismissed early. If Class is cancelled due to weather, a full refund will be given. In the event of questionable weather conditions, teachers and participants should listen for school closing announcements on local TV and radio stations, or call the Community Education Office. CANCELLATIONS: If there is insufficient enrollment for a class for which you are registered, you will be notified by phone and you will receive a full refund. REFUNDS: A full refund will be given if classes are cancelled by W-K Community Education. A $5 service fee will be charged for cancellations requested by individuals as least one week prior to class start date. The remainder of the registration fee will be refunded. If you cancel with less than one week notice, prior to the start date, NO refunds will be given. Statement of Release: When registering for a class, program or activity (hereafter called “programs”), you will be releasing all claims for injuries arising out of these programs that you, or other legally dependent participants might sustain. You recognize that there are physical hazards to be expected in the program, and herewith release and hold harmless the Wabasha-Kellogg Community Education Office, the Wabasha-Kellogg School District, the program teacher, leader, staff and any other persons related to the class, from any and all liability from injury/illness because of your, or your legal dependants’ participation in this program. By registering for a program, you have accepted the terms of this agreement. SCHOOL FACILITY USE: District 811 facilities are avail able for use by groups and organizations. If you wish to use a facility you must register you request in advance with the Community Education Office.
