Our engineers havemade intelligent and flexible use of materials such as aluminium, high-strength steel, magnesiumand fibre-reinforced plastic.The car’s advanced aluminium-hybrid construction allows aluminium to be used innovatively inits doors, bonnet and luggage compartment lid. The use of aluminium parts in suspension componentssuch as steering, swivel bearing and wheel carriers also results in a lasting reduction in weight. Thisenhances not only agility, rigidity and efficiency, but also driving pleasure, making the <strong>Audi</strong> A6 hybridcapable of meeting the highest demands while demonstrating one quality above all: technical excellence.


<strong>Audi</strong> A6 hybrid 7Fully charged with progressive ideas.And electricity.As a full hybrid, the <strong>Audi</strong> A6 hybrid can be driven purely electrically – and with reduced emissions – for acertain length of time. This is made possible by a high-performance lithium-ion battery, something neverbefore seen in an <strong>Audi</strong> of this class. The lightweight and compact battery powers purely electric driving inEV mode – in which the <strong>Audi</strong> A6 hybrid is almost silent – for up to 3km at 60 km/h. It is just as impressivewhen running on the combustion engine and electric motor combined. The <strong>Audi</strong> A6 hybrid is another stepfor us all towards an emission-reduced future and more proof of the progressiveness of <strong>Audi</strong>’s hybrid technology.


<strong>Audi</strong> A6 hybrid 9Efficiency and dynamics:not a contradiction.e-automatic air-conditioning: is operated by an electric airconditioning compressor, independent of the engine. Thismeans climate control is always available – even in pure electricmode and with the engine switched off when the vehicle is at astandstill.Hybrid power electronics: independently control the flow ofenergy between high-voltage battery and electric motor andsupply power to the vehicle’s on-board systems. The use ofthe latest technologies provides for high functionality packedin a compact design.Lithium-ion battery: determines the performance and operating range of the hybrid drivetrain. It has 2 major advantages compared with conventional nickel metal-hydride batteries:its high energy density means greater power output, whilst the compact constructionconsiderably reduces its weight. This in turn benefits the vehicle’s luggage space: despite thebattery, it has a volume of 375 litres above the loading floor. Active battery cooling improvesthe availability of the hybrid system and prolongs its operating life. The <strong>Audi</strong> A6 hybrid is thusone of the first cars in the luxury class that can run purely on electricity with a lithium-ionbattery for a certain period.8-speed tiptronic: integrates the electric motor with no additional space requirement, andcontrols the connection to the combustion engine through the clutch. Combines shiftingease, sportiness and efficiency. The Dynamic Shift Program (DSP) determines the suitableshifting point itself, and adapts to your individual driving style.2.0 TFSI engine: is the 5-time winner of the ‘Engine of the year’award. The <strong>Audi</strong> valvelift variable valve control system markedlyimproves engine efficiency and at the same time increases itstorque. Combining this with the high torque available from theelectric motor makes for extremely dynamic acceleration.Electromechanical power steering: increases efficiency, since the steering force is not suppliedby the engine but is generated electrically when required.Electric motor: combines efficiency and dynamism, and acts as either traction engine, generator orstarter depending on the driving situation and performance requirement. It has an output rating of54 bhp and a maximum torque of 210 Nm. The compact and particularly lightweight electric motor isconnected to the crankshaft through a clutch. This parallel hybrid concept ensures that the availablepower is transmitted directly. It is even possible to travel up to 3km ata constant speed of 60km/h. This makes it a vehiclewith one of the best speed and range capacity of itsclass.Boost: Take the <strong>Audi</strong> A6 hybrid out for a spin and you’ll beimpressed by the electric motor’s exceptional responsivenesand strong output. The electric motor acts to boost thecombustion engine, briefly generating additional outputand torque for the hybrid system.Start-stop system: helps to reduce fuelconsumption and CO₂ emissions by switchingthe engine off when the vehicle is at astandstill.Recuperation: During braking and in overrun phases, theelectric motor acts as a generator, converting the vehicle’skinetic energy into electric energy.
