This three cylinder engine hasalready gained a good reputation in A Seriestractors.New engine is called 33AWI, where A standsfor after treatment, W for Waste gate and I forintercooler. This is a four valve engine, withrated power at 2200 r/min and max powerat 1950 r/min. These relatively low enginespeeds give modern engine characteristicseven in the 100 hp class. This results in low fuelconsumption and effective operation.The new engines meet the Tier 3B emissionsregulations by using a combination of a DieselOxidation Catalyst ( DOC ) and cooled exhaust gasrecirculation ( egr ). The new solution requires noparticulate filter and emissions are reduced by90%. Compared to N-series stage 3B tractorswith Selective Catalytic Reduction and fourcylinder engines, the DOC materials are similarbut the catalyst is larger in size. Also the dieselodors and engine noise are controlled effectively- there is no need for a further silencer!The common rail fuel injection system is nowmore efficient, offering up to 1600 bar injectionpressure and extreme precision. The bonnetsize is very compact giving the operator goodvisibility.
