The field of 27golfers, split into two flights, featuredmore than 20 from out oftown.Barlau defended his 2011 titleby shooting a one-under par 67,which was 10 shots better than secondplace finisher Earl Cherry ofRifle. John Savage, also of Rifle,finished with the third best grossscore (79) in the first flight.Meeker’s Irv Griffin tied withMike Chastain of Rifle with thethird best net score (66) in the firstflight. Pat Hayes of Rifle had thebest net score (59) and Ash Durrettof Glenwood Springs finished second,six shots back.Clint Chappell played well onhis home course, finishing with thesecond best gross score in the secondflight, one shot behind thechampion Troy Mannon of Rifle,who shot an 80. Jim Farris fromGlenwood Springs finished thirdwith a gross score of 87.Joe Barnhill from Byers finishedwith the best net score (62) inthe second flight, one stroke aheadof Phil Gallagher of GlenwoodSprings.
