Following the regional final games, a teleconference will be conducted by the officiating subcommittee to approvethe recommended officials for assignment to the national semifinal and national championship games. Three threepersoncrews will be assigned to the Women’s Final Four. Two crews will be assigned to the national semifinals andone to the national championship game. I. Nomination of Officials by Division I ConferencesIn order to be eligible for nomination by aconference, each official must meet the followingrequirements:oRegister and attend an <strong>NCAA</strong> regional officiatingclinic in its entirety.The nominating conference shall indicate t<strong>here</strong>commended round the official is qualified to workand any new officials who are recommended.Conference coordinators of women’s basketballofficiating, who are responsible for more than oneconference, shall submit a “super ranking” of allnominated officials.oComplete and pass the online exam with ascore of 80% or better.The online nomination process will take placeduring the first three weeks of February.oComplete and submit the online release form,by the designated deadline, to authorize the<strong>NCAA</strong>’s contracted agency to conduct abackground check.o Submit the online sports wageringquestionnaire, by the designated deadline.oOfficiate a minimum of 25 collegiate basketballgames during the current season, including aminimum of 20 Division I women’s games,which can include assignments during aconference tournament.Each Division I conference may nominate amaximum of 20 officials.Each conference shall submit the names of, in rankorder, the officials believed to be capable ofofficiating in the <strong>NCAA</strong> tournament.The nominating conference shall submit thenumber of regular season assignments the officialreceived, including exhibition games, nonconferencegames and conference games.The nominating conference shall submit the officialsassigned to the conference tournament (e.g.,quarterfinals, semifinals and finals). Thisinformation may be submitted after the close of theonline nomination process, due to the timing ofconference tournament assignments.The nominating conference shall indicate anyconflicts an official may have (e.g., alma mater,employment, etc.).II. Selection of OfficialsThe Officiating Selection Index (OSI) is intended toquantify information being submitted by thenominating conferences and other valuable resources.It is a tool created to gather and summarize informationand opinions regarding an official’s competency,experience and preparedness to work in the Division IWomen’s <strong>Basketball</strong> Championship.OSI FactorsThe following factors are considered independently, aswell as part of the OSI:Factor 1: Number of assignments from thenominating conference (20% - maximum of 20points per nominating conference).Factor 2: Ranking from the nominating conference(15% - maximum of 20 points per nominatingconference).Factor 3: Conference tournament games worked(20% - maximum of 10 points total).Factor 4: Previous year’s <strong>NCAA</strong> tournamentgame(s) worked (20% - maximum of 10 pointstotal).Factor 5: Score obtained on the requiredpreseason exam (10% - maximum of 10 pointstotal).Factor 6: Ranking from the regional advisors (15%- maximum of 15 points total).<strong>NCAA</strong> DIVISION I WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ● CHAMPIONSHIP OFFICIATING PROGRAM PROCEDURES ● 3
