However, we may collectpersonal information about you from someoneelse. For example, if you apply for, receive oracquire a Toyota Insurance product or servicevia our intermediaries (our distributors or otherappointed representatives), our intermediariesmay (but only with your consent) obtain a creditreport about you from a credit agency for thepurpose of a loan application assessment or toobtain financial details from your accountant.Irrespective of the source, we’ll respect,value and protect the privacy of yourpersonal information.Why do we collect your personalinformation and how is it used?We collect this information for purposes whichinclude communicating with customers, settingpremiums appropriately, assessing and payingclaims, compiling statistics, providing productsand services and, subject to your consent,for marketing purposes.We will only provide your personal informationto government authorities if required by law.If necessary, we may also disclose your personalinformation to a third party (for example, ToyotaFinance) when processing a claim, validatingand confirming information, administeringpolicies and where customer research isconducted by us or on our behalf. Security of your personal informationPersonal information that we store on oursystems is protected by the use of securepasswords and identifiers. We maintainup-to-date technology to prevent unauthorisedcomputer access.Access to personal information is limitedto those who specifically require it in orderto discharge their business or professionalresponsibilities.We also maintain physical security proceduresto manage and protect the use and storageof personal information contained on paper.How to access yourpersonal informationIn most cases, a summary of basic policyinformation such as your name, address, contactdetails or policy details can be requested byphone and will be sent to you. Likewise, copies ofdocuments such as repair quotations can usuallybe sent to you following a telephone request.When may a request for accessto documents be denied?We may deny access to some or all of thedocuments requested by you but will notdo so unreasonably. A request will be denied,for example, if a document contains:1. Confidential information provided bypeople or organisations other than you;2. Information that may lead to theidentification of the person/s ororganisation/s who provided theconfidential information; or3. Commercially-sensitive informationwhich discloses our claimsinvestigation procedures.Where we deny access to some or all of thedocuments requested, we will provide reasonsand you will have the right to request a reviewof our decision through our complaints handlingprocedures.
