didn’t want to go to, and it hasbecome the place I never want toleave. The discipline I havelearned as a coach has come invery handy both as a teacher andnow as an Admissions Director,”said Mr. Cabrita. In addition tohis full time coachingresponsibilities, Miguel visits over80 elementary schools every yearand has become the chiefambassador to the eighth gradersin spreading the message aboutSt. Joe’s and the high caliber ofboth its academic and athleticprograms. If genes were all that matteredin athletics, then the story aboutGary Trojanowski ’72 should havebeen about baseball instead oftrack.Gary’s father, EdwardTrojanowki, was a baseball playerGaryTrojanowskigraduated St.Joe’s in 1972and his halfmile record stillremainsunmatched.who had at one time in his careersigned a contract for $500 morethan Yogi Berra’s salary at thetime he was in the minors. So itwas only natural that Gary’sfather taught him how to field aball and really enjoy the sport. The frequent travel eventually ledhis father to a career as anelectrician and so the familysettled into Metuchen, bringingGary close to his school and yearslater closer to his career. As much as Gary enjoyedbaseball, his real passion was forspeed, and when he joined St.Joe’s he found his niche with agroup of hurdlers and distancerunners on the Track team. Hisfamily had made a sacrifice tosend him to St. Joe’s and Garydeveloped an interest in bothscience and business, whileBaseballVarsity – Lou UrbanoVarsity Asst. – Bob YunkerJunior Varsity – Matt Cleary ‘99Freshman – Brian Jenkins ‘98Freshman – Jayson Calhoun ‘98Volunteer – Charlie GarciaBasketballVarsity – Dave TurcoVarsity Asst. – John DolanJunior Varsity – Peter MercatiliFreshman – Bob YunkerFreshman – Kevin WagnerVolunteer – Michael ZirpoloVolunteer – John CuozzoBowlingHead Coach – Wayne FischerCross CountryJV/Varsity – Gary Trojanowski ‘72Freshman – Br.
