If your computer isAutoplay capable, a menu screen will appear with a list ofoptions. If your computer does not have Autoplay enabled,you will need to manually start <strong>Diablo</strong> by double-clicking onthe “My Computer” icon, and then double-clicking on your CD-ROM icon. Locate the “Setup” program and double-click on theicon. If you have already installed <strong>Diablo</strong>, select “Play <strong>Diablo</strong>”from the list of choices. <strong>Diablo</strong> will start up shortly. If <strong>Diablo</strong>does not start up, consult the Troubleshooting section in thismanual.Once <strong>Diablo</strong> starts, select a Single Player game by either clickingon the “Single Player” selection or pressing the Enter key onthe keyboard. If this is your first time playing, you willautomatically be taken to the New Single Player Hero screen. Ifthis is not your first time playing, a list of saved characters willappear. Double-click on “New Hero” to create a new character.Notes on Mouse UseSince most of your control over the character is through usingthe mouse, here are a few terms that you should be familiarwith before continuing with this tutorial. The term “left-clicking”indicates pressing and releasing the button on the left side ofyour mouse, whereas “right-clicking” indicates pressing the righthand button. “Double-click” means to quickly click a mousebutton twice. If you are using a mouse that has three-buttons,the center button is not used while playing <strong>Diablo</strong>.Macintosh users: Wherever the manual says “right-click”, users with aone button mouse can hold down the command key ( ) and click toget the functionality of a “right-click”. If you own a multi-buttonprogrammable mouse, then you may want toprogram a button to send a “command-click”. Pleasefollow the directions that came with your mouse todo so.Creating a CharacterThere are three character archetypes, or“Classes,” for you to choose from in <strong>Diablo</strong>.Although the three Classes share commonabilities, they have different strengths andweaknesses. In addition, each Class possessesa unique skill that is only usable by membersof that class.
