Items in your backpack such as scrolls and books can beused by right-clicking on them. If it is a potion or other nontargetedeffect, the effects will take place immediately. If it isa spell or effect that requires a target, your cursor will bereplaced by a targeting cursor. Put the targeting cursor overthe item or area that you wish to affect and click the left mousebutton.Close the Inventory screen by clicking on the button orpressing I on the keyboard. You can also close the inventoryscreen by pressing the spacebar on the keyboard. Pressing thespacebar automatically closes any screens that you have open.The Belt“I have seen the horrors that liebeneath the earth. The number in the lower right hand corner of the potionicon is the hotkey for that item. Pressing the 1 key on thekeyboard, for example, will cause your character to drink thepotion in the first spot on his belt. You can also use the itemsby right-clicking on them. When your character picks up ausable item that is small enough, he will automatically placeit on his belt if there is room. You can also transfer itemsbetween your backpack and your belt by opening the Inventoryscreen, left-clicking on the item to be moved, and then leftclickingon the space that you want to move the item to.MovementMovement in Diablo is accomplished by placing the cursorover the area where you wish to walk and then holding downthe left mouse button. Your character will automatically movetowards that direction. Note that walls, monsters, or closeddoors may prevent your character from being able to find aroute to where you want him to go.Interacting with CharactersNow it’s time to explore the town of Tristram and talk to oneof the few remaining residents. Walk over to the fountain inthe center of the town. Several people will be visible. Moveyour cursor over the large fellow standing off to the right. Hisname will appear in the Description Box.
