Theexhibition includesportrayals <strong>of</strong> a wholerange <strong>of</strong> different types <strong>of</strong>costume, from mundaneeveryday working clothesto the most elaboratefashionable dress. Thereis an inevitable focus onthe depiction <strong>of</strong> womenand women’s costumebut the exhibition willlook at men’s clothing,children’s costume,headgear, workingclothes and uni<strong>for</strong>ms.Central to the exhibitionare the City Art Centre’stwo iconic Col<strong>our</strong>istportraits, J.D. Fergusson’sThe Blue Hat and F.C.B.Cadell’s The Black Hat,both showing youngwomen dressed up tothe nines in the height<strong>of</strong> Edwardian fashion.The exhibition will alsoinclude works by AllanRamsay, Henry Raeburn,E.A. Hornel, John Lavery,J.H.
