Theexhibition includesportrayals of a wholerange of different types ofcostume, from mundaneeveryday working clothesto the most elaboratefashionable dress. Thereis an inevitable focus onthe depiction of womenand women’s costumebut the exhibition willlook at men’s clothing,children’s costume,headgear, workingclothes and uniforms.Central to the exhibitionare the City Art Centre’stwo iconic Colouristportraits, J.D. Fergusson’sThe Blue Hat and F.C.B.Cadell’s The Black Hat,both showing youngwomen dressed up tothe nines in the heightof Edwardian fashion.The exhibition will alsoinclude works by AllanRamsay, Henry Raeburn,E.A. Hornel, John Lavery,J.H.
