A New Year,ANew Plan
As I consider “what to do” for the
New Year, I soberly think, isn’t it just
another day? The celebration factor, I
believe, is because we have a moment
in time to reflect on our lives, our careers
and our goals. Once that reflection
is complete, we then have a unique
opportunity to move forward in a new
and improved direction.
In my business: real estate, the rewards
come in the form of helping individuals
and families achieve their dream. Home
ownership has long been and is still the
American dream, especially in 2009.
As we begin this new year, mortgage
rates have fallen to historic lows! Mortgage
money is available to qualified
buyers through many local lenders. The
new legislature promises more opportu-
nities for qualified buyers. Banks are restructuring
loans to help keep people in
their homes. Local home prices are correcting
and properly priced homes are
selling. If homeownership is one of your
resolutions this year, I hope you won’t
be deterred by those doom and
gloomers. After all, there may never be
a better time than in 2009!
I had to laugh when I read about someone
cleaning their desk for the New
Year. If I did that, I probably wouldn’t
be able to find a thing! I guess this new
years’ ritual, for some, is because in the
flurry of our daily activities, we are always
striving to do things a little better,
a little faster, maybe a little more economically
or even “greener.”
But the best thing to do in 2009 is be a
little kinder, to enjoy the journey and
realize that we are writing a legacy for
our family and neighbors. We should
all live our days to the fullest, more generously,
more sensitively, more thoughtful
of the consequences of apathy and
just “do the right thing” in 2009. As
each new dawn brings hope and promise
for leaving the past in the past and
making a fresh start with the gift of
today; we forge ahead to make the best
of the blessing of a new day and a new
year!
So let’s all make a plan, write it down
and face whatever tomorrow will bring.
