Sheltered Housing Assessmentand Review TeamIn April 2011 an Assessment and Review Team was set up within the Sheltered Housing Team.Part of the team’s role is to assess the support needs of prospective tenants to identify whethersupport from a Sheltered Housing Officer is required and if the service is best suited to meeting theneeds identified. Upon the start of a tenancy a support plan may be completed.New tenants moving in to Sheltered Housing have an ‘Introduction to the Service,’ a process whichensures that people are fully aware of the types of service and standards they should expect. The Assessment and Review team also review the support needs of existing tenants that do nothave regular contact with Sheltered Housing Officers. These reviews mean that we can respond to the changing needs of individual tenants, as promisedin the Supported Housing Service Standard, which was reviewed in March 2011.Their target was to complete 502 reviews was set in April 2011 and the team are on course to reachthis target by the end of March 2012, as shown below. The importance of a support needs review is highlighted by the fact that twenty-four tenants havebeen assessed as needing housing related support and are therefore now receiving support whichwill enable them to continue to live independently and maintain their tenancy. If you would like any further information in relation to Sheltered Housing or if you are a ShelteredHousing tenant and you feel that you need a review of your support needs please contact theSupported Housing team on 01823 356304.13
