Smokeless tobacco cigarettes are currently becoming muchmore popular among teenagers. The electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) or the personal vaporizer (PV) is an electronicdevice that vaporizes a liquid solution into a mist, simulating the act of tobacco smoking without producing smoke. These devices produce the same amount of nicotine as smoking regular cigarettes and they are subject to the samerestrictions as regular cigarettes. These devices are not allowed at school and students who carry them are subject to thesame disciplinary sanction as students who carry standard cigarettes. These devices are being marketed directly to teens. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and flavors. They arerather expensive, with an initial investment of approximately $65.00, but that is not deterring several teens frompurchasing these products. Once the original investment is made, students can purchase flavored nicotine vaporcartridges for approximately $12.00.We just wanted to take a moment to let you know that these devices are gaining in popularity among teens. They stillcarry health risks and they are not allowed at school. We appreciate your support regarding helping our childrenunderstand the health risks of what is being marketed as a harmless way to smoke.Picture of one-style of an e-cigarette.
