<strong>AER</strong> Total <strong>Annual</strong> Assistance<br />
Since its beginning in 1942, <strong>AER</strong> has provided $1.4 billion to 3.4 million<br />
Soldiers and their Families. In <strong>2011</strong> we provided $69.4 million in no-interest<br />
loans and grants for nearly 59,800 Soldiers and their Families. This includes<br />
$1.5 million of assistance to 1,056 <strong>Army</strong> Reserve Soldiers, $1 million in<br />
assistance to 872 <strong>Army</strong> National Guard Soldiers and $8.8 million in assistance<br />
to 5,834 Retirees and their Families. <strong>AER</strong> also provided 2,103 surviving<br />
Spouses and Orphans with more than $2.4 million. With scholarships, total<br />
assistance came to more than $77 million.<br />
