Weishaupt Monarch oil burnersSizes 1 and 31/2002 CA

DescriptionWeishaupt Monarch oil burners are ofthe fully automatic pressure atomizingtype. Their design has been carefullyconsidered down to the smallestdetail and has been proven to besuccessful over and over again. Theymeet all the demands for safety, reliability and low cost operation. The burners are distinguished by avariety of excellent features:■ Range of application 1.75 - 19 GPH(240 - 2,645 MBH)■ Automatic sequence of operations■ Stable fan characteristics – goodcombustion results■ Air regulation on pressure side■ Air damper closed on burner shutdown■ Quiet operation■ Complete pre-wired integralswitchgear■ Hinged burner casing■ Combustion head can be pulled outwhen the burner is hinged open■ The design of the burner makesinstallation, adjustment and servicingeasyConstructionAll the components are assembled in oneunit. The motor drives the fan and the fuelpump. All the equipment used for theregulation of fuel and air is clearlyarranged and easily accessible. Theburners can be hinged to the left or right, which simplifies service work on thecombustion head, diffuser, nozzles andignition electrodes.ApplicationThe burners can be used on hot waterboilers, steam boilers, air heaters and forvarious heating processes. The burnersare used in particular on modern, highefficient boilers, as they are capable ofovercoming high combustion chamberpressures. RL burners are preferablyused where there is a continuallychanging heat demand.FuelsLight oil #2 to Medium heavy oil #4.Viscosity:Types Monarch L and RL -< 6 cSt (6 mm 2 /s) at 68F (20°C)Type Monarch M -≤ 75 cSt (75 mm 2 /s) at 122F (50°C)RegulationOn L and M type burners, the regulationof oil and air takes place as follows:■ two stage, nozzle head with two nozzlesand a motor controlled, quicklyopening air damper.■ three stage, with three nozzles and amotor controlled, slowly opening airdamper. The RL burners control fuel and air ratioin compound. The burner can, dependingon the controller and servomotor, beeither:■ sliding two stage (20 s running time)or■ modulating (42 s running time)With sliding two stage regulation, the lowand high fire positions are fixed within theburner operating range. The burnerslides to one position or the other, depending on the appliance demand, and there are no rapid changes of fuelthroughput.By utilizing a suitable controller into thecontrol panel, the burner can beoperated in modulating mode.Modulating burners operate at any pointwithin the capacity range, depending onthe heat demand. On sliding two stage burners andmodulating burners, the slow capacityalteration ensures a particularly goodmatching to the demand of the heatingappliance.Flame safeguardThe burner flame safeguard automaticallysequences the operations and monitorsthe flame optically via the flame sensor. The flame safeguard is mounted on theburner on all standard L and M burners, but can be supplied loose if requested.Together with the control panel, eachburner forms one complete unit. On theRL burner, the flame safeguard issupplied loose for installation in thecontrol panel. There is no interference with radio andtelevision reception, as radio interferencecreated during ignition is below thepermitted limits specified by the relevantEMC standards and regulations.Quiet operationWeishaupt burners operate quietly. All airhandling burner parts have beenaerodynamically designed, the fuel / airmixing noise is reduced to a minimumand rotors and fan wheels aredynamically balanced. For installationswhere special emphasis is placed onburners with low noise levels, soundabsorbers, which considerably reduceburner noise, are available as an option.Oil temperature regulationMedium/ heavy oil burners are equippedwith oil preheater. The oil is quicklyheated to the required atomizingtemperature, due to the large heatexchanger surface combined with arelatively small oil volume. Fast andevenly heat distribution prevents localoverheating and carbonization of the oil.Heated nozzle head and nozzlerecirculation system on medium/heavy oil burnersAll medium/ heavy oil burners are fittedwith a heated nozzle head system. Afterthe oil temperature in the nozzle head hasbeen reached, the burner is released foroperation by a thermostat. Duringprepurge, heated oil flows through thenozzle head and oil line system. Thisensures that evenly heated oil is availablefor good combustion.2
