MAIN EVENT 2000 Galarings in "Turn of the Century"in grand styleby Rose Eckhoff, Director ofPublic Relations & Special Eventshe year 2000 will long be rememberedat Moeller High as the 'year of great celebration.'According to Principal Dan Ledford, "Moellerhas much to^tlebrate this year: first is the 40thanniversary • our school; second is the 15thanniversary cHie Main Event; and third is the 150thanniversary JRhe Society of Mary in the UnitedStates; and fourth, but certainly not least, the beatificationof Father Chaminade, founder of the Societyof Mary. For all these reasons and more, we wantedto ring in the Jubilee year properly."Hence, the result was a spectacularMain Event Gala, whichwas held at the beautiful PhoenixBallroom in downtownCincinnati on April 29th. Theblack-tie affair (which sold outthree months before the event)boasted a grand celebration,complete with white glove service,a classic harpist and grandpiano entertainment, champagne toasts, candlelightcocktail hour, gourmet dinner, and an unforgettableauction.Guests in attendance represented two generationsof Moeller "family members." More than 400 guestsand over 1000 generous benefactors contributed tothe event, which raised a record $175,000 forMoeller and the MHS AnnualFund.
