For more than 40 years, we haveprovided developing countries access to safe, reliableand affordable electricity, sharing lessons from the U.S. electriccooperative experience along the way. Wherever we design, constructand operate rural electric utilities, we also build local institutional capacity—including the training of personnel—to own and manage them.The NRECA International Foundation is the charitable armof NRECA and helps bring electricity and its inherent benefits to thepeople of rural areas in developing countries.The Foundation delivers electricity to developing countries by coordinatingand supporting co-op employees throughout the United States. Co-opsparticipate by sending employees who volunteer their skills, donating usedvehicles and electric equipment, and providing funding.When the recipients of their gifts have access to reliable electricity, familiesin developing countries become healthier, more productive and self-reliant.
