Panthers Continue Climbing Towards The ShowAs Major League organizations head into spring training forthe 2008 season, five former Panthers are still active in theminor leagues - three position players and two pitchers.Since 1980, when Russell Eagle became the first Panther drafted,30 players have gone on to play professional baseball.At least one Panther has signed with a Major League team forfive consecutive seasons (2003-present). In 10 of the last 11years, a <strong>Georgia</strong> <strong>State</strong> player has signed with a Major Leagueorganization.In 2005, Brett Strickland and Ben Rulon made <strong>Georgia</strong> <strong>State</strong><strong>history</strong>. The pair became the first Panther teammates selectedin the same draft. Charlie Pelt and Luke Gordon repeated thefeat in 2007.Two former Panthers have reached the AAA level.
