We will strive to make any stay, howeverlong, relaxing and comfortable.You’ll be <strong>care</strong>d for by a friendly and professional teamincluding your consultant, specialist nurses and ourresident <strong>medical</strong> officer who is available 24 hours a day.Day Case – what to expect during your stayWaiting time:Although you will have been given a provisional time forsurgery, the order of the operating list is not confirmedby the surgeon until the day of admission. On the day ofyour procedure, you should expect to spend a minimumof 4-5 hours with us.Privacy and single-sex accommodation:In the Day Surgery Unit, all rooms accommodate two tofour patients and are single-sexed. The beds are separatedby curtains to provide some privacy. If you would liketo discuss your treatment in a more private place pleaseask the nurse assigned to you. Please do not hesitate tocontact us if you have any questions that you wish todiscuss with a nurse prior to your admission. The nursescan be contacted on 020 7234 2581.OvernightOur appointed single rooms include air-conditioning,en suite bathroom and shower, with many overlookingthe River Thames. Each bedroom has TV, satellitechannels, a free premium movie service and Nurse CallSystem. We can arrange daily newspapers, magazinesand a number of other services including an Internetfacility and refrigerator.Our chef provides a different menu each day of theweek and caters for special diets while our dietitianwill recommend the dishes that are most appropriate.Visitors are welcome to join patients for meals in theirroom and in our Riverside Restaurant in the mainbuilding. We have significant experience in meetingthe cultural needs of patients from many countries andprovide interpreters who understand and can explain<strong>medical</strong> terms.Visiting times are flexible, with family and friendswelcome at any time up to 10.30pm.
