VIMY RIDGE 71trary to their expectations, it was the last time they sawthat part of the front.<strong>The</strong>y spent three weeks at Cambligneul, training forthe Mericourt attack, which was destined to be abandoned. <strong>The</strong>y worked to a carefully prepared syllabus oftraining, practising over taped trenches as thoroughly asthey had done prior to Vimy. During this training therewere several cases of diphtheria developed and the Battalion was in quarantine from October 6th to 1<strong>4th</strong>. OnOctober 10th the Battalion was warned to &quot;assume mobileconditions&quot; and the tactics in training were altered toconform to those used on the Somme.
