TEXTILE AND CLOTHING SUPPLIES IN TURKEYEXPORTSThough the Turkish textile and clothing suppliesindustry is a very young industry comparedto the main textile and clothing industry, itis growing very rapidly not only in terms ofproduction but also in terms of exports.Direct exports of textile and clothing suppliesrose to about US$ 496 million in 2007 from US$278 million in 2005. The exports were US$ 484million in 2008. Turkey’s textile and clothingsupplies exports were affected by the globalfinancial crisis as well as in the whole world,and decreased to US$ 406 million in 2009.In addition to the direct exports, a largequantity of textile and clothing supplies areexported indirectly, i.e. with clothing and madeup textiles. TEXTILE AND CLOTHING SUPPLIES IN TURKEYworth of textile and clothing supplies wereexported indirectly in 2009.The main export products in 2009 wereinterlining, embroideries, buttons, clasps,buckles, zippers, narrow fabrics, labels, sewingyarns, braids, trimmings, tassels, etc.Major export markets in 2009 were Russia(10%), Germany (7%), Poland (6%), UK (5%),Romania (5%), Iran (5%), Italy (4%), Egypt(4%), USA (4%), Greece (4%), France (3%)and Bulgaria (3%).Turkish textile and clothing supplies producersand exporters participate in many internationalfairs abroad.
