<strong>4th</strong> <strong>FINA</strong> <strong>World</strong> <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>Swimming</strong> <strong>Championships</strong> <strong>2013</strong> – <strong>Dubai</strong> (<strong>UAE</strong>)August 26 – 31Accreditation and EntryThere are four important deadline dates for providinginformation to the OC and to participate in theChampionship.April 15, <strong>2013</strong>first preliminary entry form to be sent to <strong>FINA</strong> & OCMay 15, <strong>2013</strong>second preliminary entry form to be sent to <strong>FINA</strong> & OCJune 15, <strong>2013</strong>final numeric entry, accommodation booking form andpayment to be sent to OCAugust 16, <strong>2013</strong>deadline for the final nominated entry and accreditationforms (Team Summary, Individual Entry, Relay Entry, andTeam Official Accreditation forms) to be sent to <strong>FINA</strong>National Federations are to note the number of TeamOfficials (coaches, managers, chaperons, etc.) allowedin accordance with the number of athletes. A fee of100 USD$ will be payable for each approved additionalaccreditation pass.The OC will provide each National Federation with adedicated login details (USERNAME & PASSWORD) thatwill be used for the online system.Venue and ParticipantsThe event will be held at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed BinRashid Sports Complex.Built at an estimated cost of AED 1.1 billion (US $300m),the aim was to create a state-of-the-art venue that wouldput <strong>Dubai</strong> and the United Arab Emirates on the map asa location for aquatics, and this is exactly what has beenachieved. Covering 61 acres of <strong>Dubai</strong>land and located onthe <strong>Dubai</strong> Bypass Road, the complex is the largest indoorsporting facility in the city and has seating for 15,000spectators. It boasts two 50-metre pools, both withmoveable floors to allow conversion to the 25-metre poolused in any swimming events (long or short course), aswell as a diving pool.In a city already full of superlatives, the building’s strikingarchitecture ensures global recognition of the venue asa memorable and iconic facility in <strong>Dubai</strong> not only forOlympic-standard swimming and diving events but alsoas a truly world class multi-sports arena. The completionof the venue, which also boasts 15 hospitality boxes, 6hospitality suites, the Royal Box, a Ladies’ Box, a 60-seatmedia conference room and a media centre with spacefor 194 journalists, is a source of great satisfaction to the<strong>Dubai</strong> Municipality and the <strong>Dubai</strong> Sports Council.The venue already hosted many international events like10th <strong>FINA</strong> Word <strong>Swimming</strong> <strong>Championships</strong> 2012, <strong>FINA</strong>/Arena <strong>Swimming</strong> <strong>World</strong> Cup Legs since 2011 and <strong>FINA</strong>/Midea Diving <strong>World</strong> Series since 2012The venue is all about details – whether they are big orsmall. From the padded leather seats for each spectator,to the space for 400 athletes to get changed and thegiant octagonal scoreboard and video screen that sitshigh above the competition pool. The uncompromisinglymodern architecture of the building is functional as wellas being elegant and striking. Its’ form and elevationtreatment express the sinuous muscular beauty of theathletes within as well as integrating flowing themes of themovement of water.
