Chairman of the Society for Computers and<br />

<strong>Law</strong>. He is the co-author of Morgan & Burden on<br />

Computer Contracts (Sweet & Maxwell) and of<br />

Legal Protection of Software: A Handbook (xpl<br />

formerly EMIS) and with Ruth Boardman of Data<br />

Protection Strategy (Sweet & Maxwell).<br />

regional commercial law firms. Her blend of<br />

technical knowledge and practical experience<br />

enables her to provide bespoke training and<br />

consultancy solutions to clients across a wide<br />

range of HR and employment law topics.<br />

Karen holds a BSc in Sociology with Industrial<br />

Relations, a Postgraduate Diploma in <strong>Law</strong> and<br />

an Advanced Diploma in <strong>Employment</strong> <strong>Law</strong> or<br />

Kate Shepherd is a charismatic employment<br />

lawyer and principal of her own employment<br />

law consultancy business – Kate Shepherd<br />

Associates. Before setting up the business Kate<br />

was a Solicitor, where she practised employment<br />

law in the East Midlands. Kate now regularly<br />

trains and advises a wide array of employers<br />

from small and medium sized enterprises<br />

through to PLC’s, charities and multi-national<br />

companies. She also operates at Director level<br />

and sits on the Board for clients. Kate is CIPD<br />

qualified and a member of the <strong>Employment</strong><br />
