REGION TWO SCHOOL SCOUTING 09
COLUMBAN COLLEGE
The next batch for school scouting was in Columban College in Olangapo
City with Ms. Karren Cabanban and Mr. Anderson
Angeles. We were assisted by Mr. Alben Alqueza,
the IIEE Student Chapter President in CC, and Mr.
Ricky James Mendoza, the Student Council
President of the College of
Engineering. We first had
the ocular inspection in
Columban College (Barreto
Branch) only the
Gymnasium where they
can hold their activities. Engineering building is the largest
building among other college departments. Electrical
students here do not have their own laboratory where
they can practice their course.
After the inspection, we went to
Columban College, Olangapo City (main
branch) which is a 20-minute ride from
Barreto Branch to meet the other officers. We
stated the purpose of this activity and
announced the upcoming activities of
Region Two especially the Regional Student
Convention. We
had a serious talk
about some matter
regarding affiliation,
raising budget,
current state of their membership and so on. Mr. Alben
raised some question about the RSCon because they
had not joined any event in the region in the previous
years. We had also checked the place and since this
was the main branch their facilities and equipments are
located here.
Before adjourning the meeting, they
promised that they will join the forthcoming
RSCon and other proposed activities of the
region two.
Based on some indication Columban
College is not yet ready to hold RSCON.

BATAAN PENINSULA STATE
UNIVERSITY
BPSU was one of the largest members in R2. They
had their EE Sportsfest when we had the scouting and
almost all of the EE students were present in this affair. Mr.
Christopher Malonzo, the IIEE Student Chapter President of
BPSU, gave us a warm welcome despite of his busy
schedule. They gave us the time to tell the purpose of
school scouting together with their officers and other
members.
First, we
expressed our
gratitude for their
participation in the recent Basketball
Tournament and Seminar in Tarlac City. They
were also thankful because according to
them, they learned more in the seminar and enjoyed it as
well. During the meeting, questions were raised regarding
membership forms and benefits of IIEE. They promised to be
active and open to help in the development of region two
accompanied with right dissemination of information.
After the meeting,
Mr. Malonzo assisted us in
the whole vicinity of the
school. They had their EE laboratory, mini
theater where they can hold seminars, one
computer room, and a library. The
Engineering
Building is
isolated from
other buildings.
BPSU had a
quite large area but since they had many
students it looks populated.
We left BPSU with the hope of achieving our
objectives for the betterment of the region.
