The TCS detects drive wheel spindue to the accelerator pedal being pressed too hard or similar causes and controlsengine speed to suppress wheel spin. With these systems, safety is assured whendriving or stopping.• Additionally, the DSC controls sudden changes in vehicle attitude, due to evasivesteering or road conditions. The DSC suppresses vehicle sideslip when drivingdue to vehicle spin (oversteer) or drift-out (understeer) by controlling braking andengine speed. At this time, the DSC indicator light illuminates to alert the driverthat the DSC is operating due to a dangerous situation. As a result, the drivercan calmly react and is provided leeway for the next maneuver, resulting in safedriving conditions.Mazda Technical TrainingMX-5 Miata New Model TrainingSG-129
