Put a doton that paper at each side of theMCPs (index finger/pinkie finger).Remove hand and measure thedistance between those two dots.MCPs or MPs circumference.Loosely measure with a tapemeasurement around the MCPs(knuckles of index finger topinkie finger).Palm circumference orcircumference of handthrough web space.This is similar to the MCPcircumference, except it is belowthe MCPs, follow the palmar crease.It does not include the thumb.Wrist circumference.Loose measurement taken aroundthe wrist joint.Forearm circumference.Taken at specific distance from the elbow joint orat the largest part of the forearm. Measure looselyaround the forearm.Bicep, mid-humerus or 4“ above elbowcircumference.Measure around the largest part of the upper arm.Shoulder width.The width from the edge of shoulder to edge ofshoulder across the back.NeckcircumferenceAChin toshoulderAcromion to acromion.Across mid-point of capula is the acromion;from to bump of the inside (lateral) ends ofthe shoulder blade to acromion drop down themeasuring tape to go over the middle of theshoulder blades.Chin to jaw.Take a measurement with a ruler from the centreof the chin, in a straight line to the ‘corner’ of thejaw. This measurement is referred to as ‘A’ (seethe photo above).Chin to shoulder (neck height).Takes a little creativity to take without havingthe person turn their head. Often a therapist willuse two rulers. Place the first ruler under thechin and angle it so it is over the shoulder.
