Balloon ShopHalloween was a success. We would like to thank the following volunteerswho helped us fill all the orders: Connie Boudreaux, Anne Cardwell,Kathy Fearn, Suzie Frosch, Judi Kuebel, Lisa Sarrazin, Pamela <strong>St</strong>ritzinger,and Jessie Wang.Remember to place any orders throughout the year for birthdays,congratulations, or just to have a great day. Orders can be placed foryour daughter, her friends, or a big sis/little sis. You may also placeorders to pick up in the office for family and/or friends who are notstudents at SSA.Valentine order forms are now available on Edline under “forms folder”.Place your orders early by mailing them in or dropping them off in theoffice.The Balloon Shop operates on a volunteer basis only to help raise moneyfor Campus Beautification Projects and of course, to provide smilesthrough the cheerful gift-giving of balloons. Without your orders and thehelp of our dependable volunteers, the Balloon Shop could not operate.All of our volunteers have done a terrific job so far this year. Thank youfor your support. Hence you can have your turkeyand eat it too. One of these alternatives is the CharitableRemainder Trust. The trust known as a CRT allowsdonors to give up ownership of assets but they retain thebenefit to live off the income generated by the asset untila specified time when the remainder goes to an organizationsuch as SSA. When the trust is funded, the donor may geta significant tax deduction and the asset is removed fromthe donor's estate. A gift other than cash with anappreciated value can be sold by the trust with theavoidance of capital gains taxes.
