Evelyn Hinkle Retires After 39 YearsEvelyn Hinkle announced her retirement in May, 2007, after serving Bishop Dunne for 39 years as teacher, administrator,club moderator, and basketball statistician.Principal Brother Adrian hired Mrs. Hinkle in 1968. Evelyn has been at Bishop Dunne for 39 years and during thoseyears she has worn many hats. Mrs. Hinkle always felt that the Dunne community had supported her and her familythrough the years and she loved teaching and being around the students.Mrs. Hinkle’s retirement luncheon was held at the Top of the Cliff Clubon Wednesday, June 13, 2007. Hall of Fame Honors Falcon GreatsThe 2007 Alumni Hall of Fame awards were given by Principal KateDailey and Athletic Director Kenneth Davis during the pre-Homecomingfestivities on Friday, October 12, 2007. The 2007 recipients to theAlumni Hall of Fame are:Bob DeCrosta was the first Athletic Director and football coach forBishop Dunne. While at Bishop Dunne, Coach DeCrosta coached footballand track. He was the moderator of the Letterman’s Club. Coachcontinued his career in athletics as an assistant football coach at RiceUniversity and with several professional NFL football teams.Craig Miller is a graduate from the class of 1983. Craig is currently oneof the morning hosts for the Dunham and Miller Show on Sports Radio1310 The Ticket. He has co-hosted the morning drive show with GeorgeDunham and newsman Gordon Keith since the fall of 1995. The showhas twice been a finalist for the prestigious Marconi Award. The triohas been named Dallas-Ft. Worth Radio Personalities of the Year. Theyhave been named the Best Talk Show by the Dallas Morning News andthe Fort Worth Star Telegram.Coach Buddy Henderson was recognized for his years of service anddedication to the Bishop Dunne community in his commitment to excellenceon the athletic field and in the classroom. Coach Hendersonserved as head track coach during the 1970’s, bringing home TCIL StateChampionships in 1971, 1972, 1973, and 1976. He was also the head footballcoach from 1978 until he retired in 1982. Coach Henderson wasalso the moderator for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and held theposition of P. E. Director. Groundbreaking for theNew Athletic Field HouseAs part of the Homecoming Festivities, a groundbreakingceremony for the new Athletic Field House was held onFriday, October 12, 2007. Present for this occasion werePrincipal Kate Dailey, Athletic Director Kenneth Davis,our newest Hall of Fame inductees Bob DeCrosta andCraig Miller, the daughters of Coach Buddy Henderson,Angie Henley and Allison Smith, and special guests BillOrender, Patrick Orender, and Oliver McGonigle.The new building is slated for completion in the late summerof 2008. The Field House will serve the needs ofBishop Dunne students and coaches as well as the OakCliff Community and surrounding areas. New constructionwill include a multi-purpose room, athletic trainingroom, weight room, conference area, a concession stand,and restrooms.The construction of an Athletic Field House will providethe students of Bishop Dunne with a well deserved andmuch needed facility. Student athletes, coaches, visitingteams and community groups will have a safe area tomeet, perform, instruct, and plan. The irony is that Mike BacsikSr. pitched against Hank Aaron almost 31 years ago.John Denton, class of 1980, was the recipient of the2007 Lindsey Nelson Outstanding Broadcaster Awardpresented by the All-American Football Foundation. Johnis the TCU/ISP Radio Network analyst, and has called220 regular-season football games and 10 bowl games.Ana Castillo, class of 2003, was inducted into Phi BetaKappa chapter of the University of Dallas in May, 2007.Michelle Clay Coleman, class of 1972, received the DallasTheater Center’s third annual Project Discovery DistinguishedEducator Award. Mrs. Coleman, a DISD theaterarts teacher for 29 years, continues to be a powerfuladvocate for arts education.Lisa Hembrey, class of 1968, has been named Presidentand CEO of Dallas Community Television and will directthe public television and media facilities and services intoits next quarter century.Dr. Dan Luby, class of 1966, has earned a Doctorate inSpiritual Theology from the Pontifical University of St.Thomas Aquinas in Rome, where he also earned the Li-


centiate in Sacred Theology. Dr. Luby currently holds theendowed Tschoepe Chair of Homiletics in the School ofMinistry at the University of Dallas.Rachel Lang, class of 2002, is working towards herMaster’s Degree in Pathology and working in the OrangeCounty Coroner’s Office in California.Dr. Don Timm, class of 1982, was voted one of Dallas’top doctors by his peers in the 2007 October issue of DMagazine.PassingsJavier Arista, class of 2000, passed away peacefully inthe arms of his mother, Isabel Arista, class of 1974, onJune 24, 2007.
