This is mainly due to the increase in the Annual Core(Underlying) Inflation rate from 5.6% for the yearending February 2013to 6. .8% for the yearending <strong>March</strong> 2013. The Annual Food Crops Inflationrate dropped further to a minus 8.6% for the year ending <strong>March</strong> 2013compared to a 6.2%drop registered for the yearended February 2013.Similarly, the Annual Energy, Fuel and Utilities (EFU) Inflation decreasedto a minus 2.0% forthe year ending <strong>March</strong> 2013 compared to the minus3.3%registered for the year endedd February 2013.(Table 1).ANNUAL HEADLINE INFLATION RATES BY CENTREKampala High Income registered the highest Annual Inflationn rate <strong>of</strong>6.3%up from 4.6% in February 2013. This was driven by high price levelsfor; alcoholic beverages, household textile, furniture, transport fares andeducation charges. Mbarara recorded the second highest AnnualInflation rate <strong>of</strong> 5.4% from 6.5% in February 2013. This was driven byhigh price levels for alcoholic beverages, rent, education andhealthservice. Jinja recorded Annual Inflation rate <strong>of</strong> 4.4% from 4.8% inFebruary 2013. The main inflation drivers were high price levels foralcoholic beverages, clothing, unmetered water, firewood and educationcharges. For other centres see Table 1.MONTHLY INFLATIONThe Monthly Headline inflation for the month <strong>of</strong> <strong>March</strong> 2013 rose by0.9%compared to0.4% increase recorded inFebruary 2013. TheMonthly Core Inflation increased by 0.4% in <strong>March</strong> 2013 compared to0.9%increase recorded in February 2013. The Monthly Food CropsInflation registered a 3.8% rise in<strong>March</strong> 2013 from a minus 2.2% inFebruary 2013. Similarly, the Monthly EFU Inflation increased by0.9% in<strong>March</strong> 2013 from a 0.2% decrease recorded inFebruary 2013. The non-food inflationregistered a 6.5% for the year ending <strong>March</strong> 2013 compared to 6.0%recorded in February 2013 (See Table 6).iv | PageOTHER GOODS ANDSERVICES INFLATION RATESThe Annual Inflation rate for Other Goods increased to 5.0% in <strong>March</strong>2013compared to3.0% recordedd in February 2013.
