We would like to invite you to be a Distinguished Listener at a public forum in your area where your constituentswill be discussing the formation of the <strong>South</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong> budget. We will be meeting at Wakpa Sica ReconciliationPlace, 709 West Fort Chouteau Road, Fort Pierre, <strong>South</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong>, Friday, October 21, 2011. (See attachedAgenda)This public event will begin with a lunch, followed by education and discussion around how the <strong>South</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong>budget is put together and the priorities and choices it reflects.How <strong>South</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong>ns collect and spend money for the common good reflects our shared values – our consensuson what public services we believe we need in our state and are willing to pay for together. Our goal is to providelocal communities with an opportunity to come together for a non-partisan budget discussion, learn state budgetbasics, and begin a consensus building discussion. We will be asking participants for their input by usingelectronic technology called “Turning Point,” and small group discussions.
