OFFSHORE PRODUCTIONSurpassed 2.6 million-unit-mark under theongoing expansion of global managementProduction in transplants has been expanding, from Turkey and India in late 1990s toChina in 2002, US Alabama in 2005, Slovakia in 2006, Czech in 2008 and USGeorgia in 2009. As a result, offshore production, less than 100 thousand units in2001, saw robust growth every year and recorded 2.6 million units in 2010.In terms of overseas production by maker, Hyundai produced 1,883 thousandvehicles and Kia totaled 722 thousand units, accounting for 72.3% and 27.7% ratiorespectively. On the basis of factory-production, the biggest one is Hyundai's Beijingplant with 704 thousand units, followed by Hyundai's India and Kia's China producing600 and 339 thousand units respectively. In 2011, overseas production is predicted toexpand as Kia's Georgia and Hyundai's Russia plants enter into full-scale operation.Meanwhile, KD(Knock-Down kits) exports rose by 17.6% year-on-year to 1,289thousand units. China ranked in the first place for the KD export destination followedby Uzbek, India, Mexico and Colombia.
