The information provided within the proposal will be used to highlight accepted sessionsin the preliminary and final programs. With this in mind, changes and/or additions (i.e.faculty names, title changes) must be submitted prior to February 21, 2014. Thesechanges will only be incorporated into the final program.All speakers are responsible for the information included within their slides and areresponsible for obtaining copyright permissions. All speakers will be required to agree toa copyright assignment statement when submitting a session proposal.Audiovisual Information:The standard audiovisual equipment that is provided for each session is as follows:LCD projector, laser pointer, and microphones. The use of personal laptops is prohibited.Requests for additional audiovisual equipment must be included in the session proposal.Internet connections are not provided in session rooms; requests for internet in sessionrooms will not be approved. Audience response systems are not provided for sessions;requests for audience response systems will not be approved. All speakers are requiredto upload their presentations with the audiovisual technician that will be setup in the backof the meeting room. Further information and instructions will be provided to speakers inadvance of the meeting.Clinical Workshops:Clinical Workshops are forums for clinicians to review and discuss clinical challenges indental sleep medicine within a one-hour time slot. These sessions are appropriate for thepresentation and discussion of controversial clinical topics or difficult clinical situationsthat demonstrate the critical thinking process in clinical dental sleep medicine.A maximum of three speakers are allowed. Those speakers who have been confirmed foran accepted session must be the people who actually deliver the presentations; changesin session speakers must be reviewed by the AADSM Annual Meeting Committee.Presentation handouts for all Clinical Workshops are prohibited.Discussion Groups:Discussion Groups are forums for a less formal presentation of a topic within a one-hourtime slot. The AADSM encourages conversations on controversial subjects and pro/condiscussions or presentations. These sessions should stimulate interest and discussion withthe audience without extensive data presentation or use of audiovisual equipment andwithout necessarily reaching a conclusion. A question or series of questions should beintroduced by the panel of discussants to start the session. A Discussion Group proposalmust be presented within the guidelines stated. Proposals that are structured similar to aSymposium will be considered as such and evaluated with the Symposium proposals.10AADSM 2014 Call for Abstracts & Session Proposals
A maximum of three speakers are allowed. Those speakers who have been confirmed foran accepted session must be the people who actually deliver the presentations; changesin session speakers must be reviewed by the AADSM Annual Meeting Committee.Presentation handouts for all Discussion Groups are prohibited.Symposia:Symposia sessions are allotted a one-hour time slot to present the latest data and ideas ontopics in dental sleep medicine and sleep research.A maximum of 3 speakers are allowed for Symposia. Individual presentations, whichshould be approximately 20 minutes each including questions, should be integrated onthe same topic.Those speakers who have been confirmed for an accepted session must be the peoplewho actually deliver the presentations; changes in a Symposium must be reviewed bythe AADSM Annual Meeting Committee. Presentation handouts for all Symposia areprohibited.Session speakers should be aware that individuals are limited to two presentationsper meeting in order to encourage a wide variety of speakers and promote diversityof content at the meeting. In the event that a speaker exceeds this limit, the AnnualMeeting Committee reserves the right to request a different speaker.Session Proposal Requirements:Submission Deadline: December 2, 2013All session proposals must follow the outline specified below. A template can be foundon the AADSM website at www.aadsm.org/meetingabstracts.aspx. Please completethis document and save a copy for your records before submitting it to the AADSM inMicrosoft Word. Please provide complete and accurate information, as the informationwill be used in the program and course materials. If a proposal is incomplete, thesubmission will be returned.In order to comply with ADA CERP guidelines, speakers will be required to disclose andresolve any significant relationships with commercial interests by completing a conflict ofinterest disclosure form that can be found on the AADSM website athttp://www.aadsm.org/researchawards.aspx.If a session proposal is accepted, the speakers are responsible for providing a detailedagenda and submitting all required materials by the appropriate deadlines.AADSM 2014 Call for Abstracts & Session Proposals11
