THE HAVEN JANUARY 2010There seems to be a mindset that if <strong>the</strong> club is making a pile <strong>of</strong> scrap or rubbish itwon’t hurt to add to it.This is an unacceptable practice as <strong>the</strong> club has to pay for removal and disposal <strong>of</strong>rubbish, used car tyres being a major issue as <strong>the</strong> cost to dispose <strong>of</strong> a tyre is around$10 per tyre and <strong>the</strong> larger <strong>the</strong> tyre <strong>the</strong> higher <strong>the</strong> cost. It seems also that memberswhen <strong>the</strong>y change batteries in <strong>the</strong>ir boat think it is acceptable to leave <strong>the</strong> old one by<strong>the</strong> tractor shed, again this is your problem as <strong>the</strong> boat owner to dispose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>battery not <strong>the</strong> clubs and at current prices <strong>of</strong> around .38c per kilo to recycle just dropyour old one <strong>of</strong>f at recycling centre and you will collect around $5.00 to purchaseyour new battery. Don’t use <strong>the</strong> excuse that by leaving it <strong>the</strong> club will get <strong>the</strong>money, well remember someone else has to dispose <strong>of</strong> it and maybe <strong>the</strong>y wouldra<strong>the</strong>r be out fishing or sailing <strong>the</strong>n cleaning up after you. So if you want <strong>the</strong> club tomaintain its low fee’s <strong>the</strong>n please keep our facilities tidy and don’t use <strong>the</strong>m as adumping ground.If you wish to donate an article to <strong>the</strong> club that may be useful contact a committeemember, don’t just leave it thinking someone will find it. It’s not useful if no-oneknows where it is or what it is.A fur<strong>the</strong>r note in <strong>the</strong> new year <strong>the</strong>re will be a major cleanup around hard stand areaso if you have some type <strong>of</strong> gizmo or mechanism o<strong>the</strong>r than slip cradles and trailersyou use when you slip your boat or launch it please label it and inform <strong>the</strong>committee in writing and maybe add a photo, o<strong>the</strong>rwise it might not be <strong>the</strong>re nexttime you need it.Steve.(A reminder again and so new members are aware, as a courtesy to all memberswho use <strong>the</strong> 4WD to launch <strong>the</strong>ir boats, please DO NOT leave your trailer attachedto it while you go out in your boat.
