Developing contacts takes time <strong>and</strong>you must ensure you develop the right ones.• Intellectual Property Rights <strong>and</strong> enforcementthereof.• Lack of local knowledge can be costly <strong>and</strong> timeconsuming.• Dealing with Agents <strong>and</strong> when commissions are tobe paid <strong>and</strong> how much <strong>and</strong> in what form?• As a small company be aware of joint ventureswith local Companies (especially minorityshareholdings).
Issues we have faced withProduction in China:• Cost increases, including labour,materials, <strong>and</strong> inflation.• Euro / RMB fluctuation.• Quality Control.• Finding the right Sub-suppliers forour business.
General Advice:• Form your own underst<strong>and</strong>ing of the Market<strong>and</strong> Customers.• Develop a clear China Strategy.• Select the Right Partners• Underst<strong>and</strong> the Role of Contracts• Have a good local team who can advise you<strong>and</strong> provide the background information for youto base your decisions on.• No longer see the benefit of a Rep Office.
