find sport programs and clubs, register for a<br />

team, learn about local sports events and special<br />

The yMCA Opportunity <strong>Fun</strong>d can help<br />

you if you cannot afford to pay the full cost<br />

<strong>of</strong> membership or programs at the yMCA <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Edmonton</strong> . Low income <strong>Edmonton</strong>ians are<br />

pre-approved and can bring their benefit card<br />

to the front desk <strong>of</strong> any yMCA . Leisure Access<br />

Program members also qualify automatically<br />

with verification from the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Edmonton</strong> .<br />

if you do not receive income benefits<br />

you can complete an application form.<br />

Canadian Tire JumpStart is a program that<br />

helps kids ages 4 – 18, whose families cannot<br />

afford to pay for them to play in organized sport<br />

and recreation activities . the program may help<br />

pay the costs <strong>of</strong> registration fees, transportation<br />

and equipment .<br />

kidSport <strong>Edmonton</strong> provides grants to<br />

children and youth from low income families<br />

so they can play in organized sport programs .<br />

Children and youth up to 18 years <strong>of</strong> age can<br />

get up to $250 per year (January to December)<br />

to help pay for sport registration fees . to get an<br />

application form, call 780-800-5520 or e-mail<br />

applications@kidsportedmonton.com or online at<br />

www.kidsport.ab.ca (click on <strong>Edmonton</strong> Chapter) .<br />

The BRiCk Sport Central gives many types<br />

<strong>of</strong> recycled sports equipment free to children<br />

in need, including hockey, skates, bicycles,<br />

soccer, s<strong>of</strong>tball, rollerblades, racquets, snow<br />

sliders and many other types <strong>of</strong> gear . Children<br />

need to be referred by individuals or agencies;<br />

including schools, government departments,<br />

community leagues and the <strong>Edmonton</strong><br />
