Teacher’s WorkshopTeacher’s Workshop is a pilot project for Education Departmentin hope to introduce the teachers within the Klang Valley to the<strong>Zoo</strong> Discovery Programme and also get feedback from them.On 30th September 2011,we were given a chance to getan insight on the NationalCo-curriculum and howto incorporate the curriculum to teachthe topics in the zoo. This workshopwas attended by 50 teachersfrom Primary Schools in Gombak.2nd AMAZED ConferenceAll Malaysian <strong>Zoo</strong> Educators’ (AMAZED) Conference lays as a platform forzoo educators to meet annually to update AMAZED members on their activities in theirrespective organizations and to share ideas. This conference is also an opportunity formembers to create a network among each other.<strong>The</strong> theme for 2nd AMAZED conference is “Planting the Seeds of Conservation” whichheld on 1st and 2nd October 2011 at the Education Centre, <strong>Zoo</strong> <strong>Negara</strong>.This year, the AMAZED Committee invited guest speakers from variousbackgrounds and 15 papers presented during the conference. <strong>The</strong> organizations involvedwere from Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Ministry of Education (CurriculumDevelopment Division), Department of Wildlife and National Parks, <strong>Zoo</strong> Melaka, <strong>Zoo</strong> Taipingand Night Safari, AQUARIA KLCC, TRAFFIC Southeast Asia, WWF- Malaysia, WildlifeConservation Society, APE Malaysia, Sabah Environmental Education Network (SEEN),Sarang Buaya Pasir Gudang Johor, Sunway Wildlife Park, True Discovery and Lost Worldof Tambun to share the one common passion – Environmental Education.Special thanks to Katie Roe from Australia and Dr Nor Azlin Yahaya from FRIM as a Keynote Speaker during the Opening Ceremony.It has indeed been an eye-opening session and we thank everyone for generous support through out this conference.KANCILGazetttte
