Ano<strong>the</strong>r season of education and all of <strong>the</strong> changes, challenges, excitement, andopportunities that come with it.Dean Bennett, who retired last year, noted: “<strong>North</strong> <strong>Idaho</strong> <strong>College</strong> is alwayschanging. It’s constantly evolving. Every time you thought you could catch yourbreath, <strong>the</strong> college would move in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> next stage of growth.” His words aresimple and eloquent, but <strong>the</strong>n, isn’t change what education is all about?Over <strong>the</strong> past 18 months, <strong>North</strong> <strong>Idaho</strong> <strong>College</strong> has experienced tremendouschange and more is on <strong>the</strong> horizon. Last year, we saw significant administrativeand leadership changes with <strong>the</strong> addition of President Joe Dunlap and threenew vice presidents. Two more <strong>to</strong>p-level administra<strong>to</strong>rs are retiring this year. InNovember, two new trustees were elected. New individuals and new programsbring new ideas and <strong>the</strong> potential <strong>to</strong> re-explore old ideas.Significant expansion in course offerings at <strong>the</strong> Sandpoint facility and <strong>the</strong> newaerospace program provide exciting potential for our <strong>North</strong> <strong>Idaho</strong> community.The evaluation of new professional-technical facilities, <strong>the</strong> possibility of a newathletics facility <strong>to</strong> replace Christianson Gym, and a student recreation facilityare being explored.After several years of adjustments <strong>to</strong> accommodate record growth in enrollmentlinked <strong>to</strong> a poor economy, <strong>the</strong> economy is improving and we are now seeing aleveling off and even decline in enrollment.All of <strong>the</strong>se influences and more will provide challenges and opportunities for<strong>North</strong> <strong>Idaho</strong> <strong>College</strong> and our community.
