The following WILL NOT haveaccess to these sites:-Any vehicle with more than 4 wheelsAny trailer more than 1.8m long by1.2m wideAny twin axle trailerAny tipperAny vehicle carrying trade <strong>waste</strong>Alternative disposal arrangements●●hiring a skip.using one of the <strong>waste</strong> bag services available at DIY stores.● taking your <strong>waste</strong> to a private <strong>waste</strong> disposal or recycling facilityFor further information see site staff for a <strong>leaflet</strong> or visitwww.bedfordshire.gov.uk/<strong>waste</strong> permit or see the Yellow Pages forlocal companies/sites.Some <strong>waste</strong>, such as asbestos, may not be accepted at privatedisposal/recycling facilities.Private sites will charge, so please contact them beforehand for detailson pricing and the types of <strong>waste</strong> they will/will not accept.Once you deposit your <strong>waste</strong> at any of the sites your <strong>waste</strong> becomes theproperty of the site operator.Additional <strong>waste</strong> restrictionsUnder the new policy householders will be able to dispose of thefollowing items in any one calendar year with a permit.● 1 refrigerator● 1 freezer●2 tyres


DIY WasteWhat we mean by DIY <strong>waste</strong> is for example shown below.1 bath tub 1 toilet pan 1 cistern 1 wash basin1 watertank 1 standard door1 kitchen worktop(max. length 1.5m)1 kitchen unit100ltrs1 window frame1 tree stump (max100mm diameter)1 fence paneland post1 sack (100 litres)of soil or rubble100ltrs100ltrs2 sacks (100 litre sacks)of other DIY <strong>waste</strong> e.g. tiles etc.This means if you have a largeamount of DIY <strong>waste</strong> you will needto make alternative disposalarrangements.For details of alternative disposal arrangements see site staff fora <strong>leaflet</strong>, visit www.bedfordshire.gov.uk/<strong>waste</strong> permit or checkout the Yellow Pages.Remember a maximum of 6 items only permonth will be accepted with a permit


General site informationWhat recyclable material the sitesacceptGlass bottles and jars, wood, corrugated cardboard,paper, books, garden <strong>waste</strong>, textiles, scrap metal,white goods, cans, car batteries, used engine oil,gas cylinders, paint, fridges, freezers and tyresPlease:● pre-sort <strong>waste</strong> to enable it to be recycled and placed in theappropriate containers● for safety reasons, keep children and pets in cars● ask if you need any assistance● follow instructions of site operatives● note that any <strong>waste</strong> left outside the gates of the sites will beregarded as fly tipping. Individuals caught fly tipping anywhere will beliable for prosecutionWhat the sites do not acceptAnimal faeces and animal beddingContaminated materials presenting a directcontact riskWhole/sectioned trees (more than 100mm indiameter)Un-sectioned conifers e.g. leylandiiEngine oil in quantities greater than 15 litresAsbestosCommercial/trade <strong>waste</strong>


If you are unable to take <strong>waste</strong> to a site yourself and require your <strong>waste</strong>to be taken to the sites by someone else on your behalf, please state thisat the time of applying for a permit.All expired permits will be retained by site staff who will forward detailsof any suspect trade <strong>waste</strong> and further permits will not be issued. Allinformation will be stored on a database registered under the DataProtection Act.<strong>Bedfordshire</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Council</strong> reserves the right to use this informationand details to review the site usage.
