CLUBTORQUESOCIAL NEWS by Rose CoggerPeter Finlay was the guest speaker atthe Clubnight last month. What a variedlife this man has had from leavingschool until his retirement. Surprisinglyhe spent a lot of time overseas inthe UK and Europe having varied successin different types of motor sport,not quite making it to the top but quiteoften, as he said, “the bridesmaid”.He also related some stories about hisdays at his driving school at OranPark, Sydney. Quite a few membershave participated in courses at thedriving school to improve their motoringskills.He also brought with him his RockerCover racer which looked as if it wasoff a 6 cylinder truck. He had itpainted up looking like the NewcastleFlyer 3801.Peter also told us about the modificationsto his MG TC in preparation forthe National Meeting. He has superchargedit and put it into pre MGASpecials.The March clubnight saw a largegroup of enthusiasts trying out theirRocker Cover racers, all very differentand multicoloured vehicles. Comealong to the next clubnight. This willbe the final trials for Rocker Cover racingbefore the MG National 2011 to beheld in Newcastle over the Easter longweekend.Next clubnight will be held on Friday8 th April, 2011 at the Cobby Street,Shortland clubrooms. At the clubnightour surprise commissioned reporterwho covered the Vodafone Challengeat Bathurst on the 22 nd March will bethere to let us know exactly how theday unfolded.The February Natter night held at thehome of Bernadette and Brian Ford atSpeers Point and was enjoyed by allwho attended. The spectacular viewfrom the upstairs windows was a pictureto behold as the sun was settingover the lake with a view of the mountains.The night was well attendedwith plenty of natter about the upcomingMG National Meeting which is fastapproaching.
