CLUBTORQUENow that <strong>Apr</strong>il is here we are about to see the fruition of our two years of consistentwork in providing a quality <strong>MG</strong> National Meeting experience over the Easterweekend.Entries have closed and the program is being prepared and posters printed. Thetrophies have been ordered and <strong>MG</strong> owners from the clubs of <strong>Newcastle</strong>, HunterRegion, Queensland, Gold Coast, NSW, Victoria, Geelong, South Australia andTasmania will be arriving in just a few weeks. Don’t forget to wave to your fellow<strong>MG</strong> drivers and make them feel welcome. The committee has worked very hardto ensure an action packed weekend and we are confident that there will besomething enjoyable for everyone. We need as much help as possible from ourmembers over the weekend. Please let me or someone else on the Nat Meetcommittee know which days you will be available.Good Friday: Registration will be at <strong>Club</strong> Panthers and the action of the RockerCover racing will dominate the night gathering. There are over 30 entries whichwill make for spirited competition. John Collins will also be at Ringwood supervisingprivate practice during the day for those wanting to get acquainted with thetrack before the official competition.Easter Saturday: The Concours is at Shortland Lawn on Wharf Road. Come inand see the display of the 150 cars. Judging of cars commences at 10 am. TheHistoric Tram will be doing half hour tours of the <strong>Newcastle</strong> precinct starting fromthe car park and at just $10 each (and free entry for children under 14 with anaccompanying adult) this is much cheaper than the tram rides normally go for.Members of the public and all club members are welcome to enjoy this tour. Ticketswill be available from the regalia tent at the park.Easter Sunday: Head up to Ringwood Hillclimb to watch the action. Those whodon’t quite feel the need for speed will match wits with the Touring Assemblymaster Russell Baldwin.Easter Monday: the Motorkhana will be held at the Hockey Centre <strong>Car</strong> park onBridges Road Broadmeadow, while Ken Short has set a lovely social drivethrough the countryside ending at Hunter Valley Gardens designed to showcaseour region.Page 26
