CLUBTORQUEREGISTER NEWS by David WalkerSunday 26 th March dawned overcast and blustery. It was difficult to tell what theday would bring on the run from the clubrooms to Clarence Town Lions Park.We soon found out! A bit of everything!I handed out information packs to assist those who had never done a run usingan instruction sheet on where to turn and how to read abbreviations. There wereeven a few photos of things to look for on the trip (though Lesley swears one itemhad disappeared from the landscape). Hopefully some of our newer club memberswill have an idea of how a Touring Assembly works in preparation for theEaster National Meeting.We left the clubrooms at 9.45am and travelled on some fascinating countryroads, many only a car width wide, over cattle grids, past potato fields, millet andbamboo stands, pumpkin patches and other unidentified crops, over bridgescrossing the Hunter and Williams Rivers, through sudden downpours of heavyrain and back out into streaming sunlight again. All tarred road except for onesmall patch which was being resurfaced.Some stopped for a caffeine fix at Morpeth but all arrived safely at the delightfulpark at Clarence Town beside the river. Dave Durie had prior knowledge of thegreat free electric B-B-Q’s and we all assembled our salad rolls while enjoyingthe aroma of his steak cooking.There is no club Register Run in April as we will all be too busy with the NationalMeeting, so our next run will be in May.With all the excitement of the National Meeting, don’t forget to register for Xmasin July at the Carriageway near Dungog on 30/31 st July.
