Directors’ and Management ProfileDr. Leung is a qualified accountant and charteredsecretary. He graduated from Curtin Universitywith Bachelor in Commerce Degree, majoring inaccounting, and has a postgraduate diploma inCorporate Administration, a Master of ProfessionalAccounting Degree from Hong Kong PolytechnicUniversity, a Doctor of Philosophy in Managementfrom Empresarial University of Costa Rica, and aDoctor of Education in educational managementfrom Bulacan State University. He is an associatemember of Hong Kong Institute of Certified PublicAccountants, CPA Australia, Institute of CharteredAccountants in England & Wales, Institute ofChartered Secretaries and Administrators, HongKong Institute of Secretaries, Taxation Institute ofHong Kong and a fellow member of the Associationof Chartered Certified Accountants. Dr. Leung is aprofessor of the European University and a visitinglecturer of Open University of Hong Kong (LiPACE)and University of Hong Kong (SPACE).Mr. ZHANG Qingkui, 43, joined the Group in2011 and was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director. Mr. Zhang graduated fromthe Faculty of Geology of China University ofMining and Technology in 1991 with a bachelor’sdegree in water engineering and graduatedfrom China University of Geosciences in 2004with a postgraduate degree in geology. He hassuccessively obtained the titles of and worked asassistant geology engineer, engineer and seniorengineer. From 1995 to now, Mr. Zhang has workedwith Liaoning Provincial Institute of GeologicalExploration, mainly involving in the geologicalexploration of mines. In 2000, Mr. Zhang was incharge of the state resource compensation feeproject “General Survey of Liangtun Gold Minein Gaixian, Liaoning Province*” (《 遼 寧 省 蓋 縣梁 屯 金 礦 普 查 》) and discovered Sidaogou goldmine. Such gold mine is dominated by gabbros andrepresents the first discovery in Liaoning, therebymaking contribution to the local economy. In 2004,Mr. Zhang established the project department formarket expansion in active response to the requestof Liaoning Provincial Institute of GeologicalExploration and cooperated with the local miningcompany, taking charge of many general survey anddetailed survey projects. In 2008, Mr. Zhang wasin charge of the “Four-Regional Geological SurveyProject of 1314.4 Highlands in Inner Mongolia*” ( 內蒙 古 1314.4 高 地 等 四 幅 區 域 地 質 調 查 項 目 ) organizedby China Geological Survey. Such project is ametallogenic belt survey project in the GreaterKhingan Range and satisfactory initial achievementshave been made.ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO THEBOARDMr. Garry STEIN, 65, joined the Group as ExecutiveAdvisor in 2009. He was appointed to become theDirector of Corporate Development of the Group in2010. Mr. Stein holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Sciencein Chemistry from the Case Institute of Technologyof Case Western Reserve University, a Master’sDegree of Applied Science from the Universityof Toronto in Metallurgy and Material Science, aMaster’s Degree of Business Administration fromthe Schulich School of Business, York Universityand is a fellow member of the Institute of CanadianBanking. He has over 40 years’ experience inexecutive roles in natural resources, banking,investment management, mergers & acquisitions,private equity and strategic planning. Mr. Stein hasbeen actively involved in both inward and outwardbound investing and mining in China for many yearsand has successfully raised and invested substantialfunds internationally for such investment projects.Mr. Stein is a director of Salmon River ResourcesLimited, a company listed on The Toronto StockExchange with a significant iron ore deposit inSouth-Western Australia. Previously, he was a seniorexecutive at Golden China Resources Corporation,a China focused gold mining company once listedon The Toronto Stock Exchange, which wassubsequently acquired by Sino Gold Mining Limited,a company listed on The Australia SecuritiesExchange and The Stock Exchange of Hong KongLimited.Annual Report 201119
